[0:01] I'm Russ Mitchell. Tonight, the $25

[0:03] million man. Barack Obama reveals his

[0:07] campaign war chest. And suddenly, he is

[0:09] neck andneck with Democratic

[0:10] presidential rival Hillary Clinton in

[0:12] the battle for dollars.

[0:14] New questions tonight about what has

[0:16] been the most important tool in the

[0:18] fight against breast cancer. The crisis

[0:21] is over tonight. Iran agrees to send the

[0:23] British sailors home

[0:26] and a mother's plea.

[0:27] >> It is time for him to come home. The

[0:29] mother of American Taliban, John Walker

[0:31] Lynn, asks President Bush to commute his

[0:34] 20-year sentence.

[0:40] >> This is the CBS Evening News with Katie

[0:43] Kur

[0:45] and good evening. Katie is off tonight.

[0:47] The battle for the Democratic

[0:48] presidential nomination is looking a

[0:50] whole lot different tonight. A whole lot

[0:52] closer between front runner Hillary

[0:54] Clinton and challenger Barack Obama.

[0:56] Senator Obama put out a financial report

[0:58] today that shows he is raising the money

[0:59] he needs to make this a very competitive

[1:01] race. On the Republican side, one-time

[1:04] front runner John McCain is struggling.

[1:06] We have two reports, beginning with

[1:08] Gloria Borgger.

[1:09] >> Barack Obama's good fortune became

[1:11] Hillary Clinton's political problem

[1:13] today as he matched her national

[1:15] fundraising numbers almost dollar for

[1:17] dollar. Obama has rad in 25 million

[1:20] since January, just under the 26 million

[1:24] raised by Hillary Clinton, who's known

[1:26] as a fundraising superstar. Not

[1:28] surprisingly, the man who raised

[1:30] millions for her husband and is in

[1:32] charge of raising big bucks for her

[1:34] campaign now downplayed Obama's success.
