[0:26] From ABC, this is World News Tonight
[0:29] with Peter Jennings.
[0:30] Good evening. We begin tonight with TWWA
[0:32] Flight 800, which blew apart in the sky
[0:34] over the Atlantic Ocean off New York's
[0:36] Long Island 9 weeks ago. Now, the theory
[0:39] that a bomb may have caused the
[0:41] explosion already based on very scant
[0:44] evidence appears to have been struck a
[0:46] blow today. The FBI believes it can now

[1:04] on the discovery of trace elements of
[1:06] chemicals PETN and RDX found in plastic
[1:10] explosives. Now, that theory has been
[1:13] undermined with the discovery that one

[1:17] in St. Lewis had purposely placed
[1:19] plastic explosives on the plane as part
[1:22] of a training exercise for bomb sniffing
[1:24] dogs and then removed the material after
[1:26] the exercise. The FBI learned all this
[1:29] only yesterday and it has put the
[1:31] investigation into a tail spin. If the
[1:34] trace elements of chemicals came from
[1:35] the explosives used in the training
[1:37] session, it would leave no evidence at
[1:39] all that a bomb brought down the TW
