[0:00] with real chicken.
[0:01] >> And chicken is free step of the way. And
[0:04] for a daily wrap-up, watch Inside
[0:06] Politics and Inside Politics Weekend on
[0:08] CNN.
[0:16] >> Welcome back to Crossfire Sunday. One
[0:18] thing is certain about the Republican
[0:19] welfare reform bill that passed last
[0:21] week is that the federal government will
[0:23] lower its commitment to the poor and
[0:24] private charities will pick up the
[0:26] expected slack. But can charities handle
[0:28] the burden? Here to discuss the
[0:30] Republican approach to their fellow
[0:32] human beings are Joan Brown Campbell of
[0:34] the National Council of Churches and
[0:36] Marvin Olasky with the Progress and

[0:50] it as left-wing? Uh it's uh very
[0:53] interesting to me that the National
[0:54] Council of Churches always manages to
[0:56] come down on the left side of the
[0:57] political spectrum, whether it's uh
[0:59] about opposing the Contract with
[1:01] America. I think you organized prayer
[1:03] and fasting to oppose it, whether it's
[1:05] uh ending sanctions on Iraq, opposing
[1:08] the balanced budget.
[1:09] Isn't it harmful to the Christian
[1:11] enterprise to have so many people feel
[1:13] alienated from their national church
[1:16] bodies that are doing these things?
[1:18] >> Well, I'm not sure that uh it's true
[1:20] that people feel alienated. And I do not
[1:23] think it's true that the National
[1:24] Council of Churches always com
