[19:16] Joshua get thee up wherefore liest thou

[19:24] and they have also transgressed my

[19:27] Covenant which I commanded them him for

[19:39] Israel could not stand before their

[19:41] enemies but turned their backs before

[20:17] to the families thereof the family which

[20:20] the Lord shall take shall come by the

[20:29] and it shall be that he that is taken

[20:31] with the accursed things shall be burnt

[20:33] with fire he in all that he hath because

[20:36] he hath transgressed the Covenant of the

[20:38] Lord and because he hath wrought Folly

[21:14] seated Joshua has enjoyed six chapters

[21:19] six chapters of blessing six chapters of

[21:22] following God he's come into chapter one

[21:26] where the people had he enters in Moses

[21:29] is off the scene and the Lord says as I

[21:31] was with Moses so I will be with thee be

[21:34] strong and of good courage so Joshua

[21:37] hears from the Lord and he takes courage

[21:40] and we go through chapter two and

[21:42] chapter three and chapter four and

[21:44] chapter five and chapter six and God's

[21:48] been doing some amazing and wonderful

[21:50] things in the nation of Israel and in

[21:53] the life of Joshua in fact so much so

[21:55] that the end of chapter 6 and verse

[21:58] number 2 7 this is what the Bible says

[22:00] about Joshua so the Lord was with Joshua

[22:03] wouldn't that be a great testimony to

[22:05] have let's try that again so the Lord

[22:07] was with Joshua wouldn't that be a great

[22:09] testimony to have and his Fame was

[22:12] noised throughout all the country so all

[22:16] the Canaanites the amorites and all them

[22:18] other

[22:19] ites are hearing about Joshua and the

[22:22] nation of Israel and what God is doing

[22:25] with them how God parted the Jordan

[22:28] River and put water heaps upon heaps and

[22:30] they came across on dry ground and they

[22:33] built an altar a memorial there for that

[22:36] how the nation of Israel come past the

[22:37] city of Jericho day after day and then

[22:40] God put the walls down flat they've

[22:43] heard about that how God had done all of

[22:46] these wonderful and marvelous things and

[22:49] Joshua has enjoyed promise after promise

[22:55] Victory and then a day comes in Chapter

[22:59] where he doesn't know about verse

[24:16] land and he said God's going to give it

[24:31] enemy and he said

[24:38] he saw Jesus before he was born of the

[24:40] Virgin Mary he saw what we call

[24:42] christophany a pre-incarnate Christ

[24:45] Joshua's had these victories had these

[24:47] wonderful moments and he's just going

[24:49] about business as normal he sends the

[24:52] spies into the land they survey the land

[24:56] they come back and they say we don't

[25:07] get there and their backs are turned and

[25:24] because what Joshua don't know

[25:30] Joshua doesn't know there's a verse

[25:37] Joshua knows God said we're going to

[25:38] take over the land and now we're in

[25:44] defeat so number one this morning in his

[25:46] AI situation there's defeat when they

[25:50] thought God was with

[26:57] 30 and six men men they chased them from

[27:00] before the gate even into sherub and

[27:02] smok them into going down wherefore the

[27:04] hearts of the people

[40:08] defeat is that he's the one who

[40:12] sinned Joshua did it sin but Joshua got

[40:21] discouraged I want to help

[40:23] you because I believe these two men

[40:29] achen are examples to us

[40:32] today of when we go through moments of

[40:38] defeat we have responses like Joshua and

[40:43] a so we'll rewind back to the beginning

[40:46] ever in your life you had

[40:49] moments of defeat when you thought that

[40:54] God was with

[40:55] you and something difficult

[40:58] happened something bad happened

[41:01] something out of the blue happened I

[41:04] didn't see this coming happened in your

[41:06] life when those moments happen in your

[41:09] life what is your

[41:11] response many of us as Christians

[41:15] unfortunately respond to moments of

[41:18] defeat when we thought that God was with

[41:19] us with doubt and

[41:25] discouragement we respond Bond as Joshua

[41:28] did without doubt we didn't see this

[41:31] coming achen should have known it was

[41:33] coming he sinned Joshua didn't see it

[41:38] coming hey sometimes moments of defeat

[41:41] happen in your life not because of

[41:45] sin but for growth moments in your

[41:50] life

[41:51] also first few chapters there's a lot of

[41:54] be strong and very courageous be strong

[41:56] and very courageous courageous be strong

[41:58] and very courageous then his first

[42:00] defeat he's on his

[42:03] face in discouragement you ever been

[42:06] there you ever been there when you got

[42:09] emotionally stirred up for God and you

[42:11] were excited about the things of God and

[42:13] God's been doing great things in your

[42:14] life and you're like

[42:17] w you're all

[42:20] excited and then out of nowhere comes

[42:22] the AI moment I'm not talking about

[42:24] artificial intelligence I'm talking

[42:25] about the city of AI okay

[42:28] excuse

[42:29] me AI

[42:33] moments and we I could use it as

[42:36] artificial we start thinking of our own

[42:38] instead of thinking about what God would

[42:40] do and she doubt and discouragement

[42:43] come you ever been there when you

[42:45] started when you went through a moment

[42:46] of defeat you went through a moment that

[42:48] you didn't see coming and then you

[42:49] started doubting what God had promised

[42:53] you God why would you leave me he Saidi

[42:55] never leave thee nor forsake thee

[42:58] God why did this happen in my

[43:00] life God I'm angry at

[43:05] you you ever gone through city of AI

[43:08] defeats and got doubted what God

[43:11] promised

[43:12] you and then did did you get fearful of

[43:15] what others would

[43:18] think you know what happens to a lot of

[43:20] Christians they're discouraged they're

[43:23] defeated but they come to church and

[43:25] they

[43:26] smile it's so wonderful to be in the

[43:28] Lord's house today I'm so glad that I'm

[43:31] here and you're lying through your teeth

[43:34] is it took everything watch this it took

[43:36] everything within you to get out of

[43:39] bed not because of physically but

[43:41] because emotionally and mentally you're

[43:43] wore out December and January two the

[43:45] most the months where most of the

[43:47] suicides are committed in the United

[43:49] States gets darker

[43:52] earlier sun feels like it comes up later

[43:56] people get discouraged

[43:58] people have depressional thoughts

[44:00] January is one of the worst usually

[44:02] that's because people get their credit

[44:03] card statement they spent too much money

[44:05] during the holiday

[44:08] season and now they got a larger credit

[44:11] card bill and now they're depressed over

[44:13] their

[44:13] finances because they didn't

[44:16] budget and then there's that

[44:19] fear what others would think so we

[44:21] pretend that we got it all good

[44:23] everything's all right but you can't

[44:25] hide that from God

[44:28] God knows your inward man he knows what

[44:31] you're dealing with

[44:32] internally and so when you have ai

[44:37] battle moments of defeat that you didn't

[44:39] see coming you have a fear of what

[44:40] others would think you also begin to say

[44:43] you know it' have been better

[44:45] if it have been better if it would have

[44:48] been better

[44:50] if and we come up with all these other

[44:52] scenarios that it would have been better

[44:54] if

[44:57] and we forget that God's got a plan for

[45:01] us and we can even question what God's

[45:04] going to

[45:05] do so when you battle discouragement and

[45:09] doubt what does God say to you I think

[45:11] it's the same thing that he said to

[45:13] Joshua get thee

[45:19] up the psalmist writes it this way but

[45:22] thou oh Lord art a shield for me the

[45:24] glory and the lifter

[45:27] of my

[45:29] head why would God need to lift my head

[45:32] because my head is down well why is most

[45:34] people's heads down they're either

[45:35] asleep or

[45:37] discouraged so your head's down in

[45:40] discouragement God wants to lift it

[45:44] up Joshua's in a place that he's down

[45:47] he's defeated he's discouraged he's

[45:49] doubting God he's questioning God and

[45:52] God's response is get

[45:54] up child of God get up

[45:57] he came to give you life and life more

[45:59] abundantly he didn't come to give you

[46:00] life of

[46:02] discouragement Hey listen you can't

[46:04] choose the emotions that you have in the

[46:07] moment but you can choose what emotions

[46:09] you continue the journey

[46:12] with things may happen in your life you

[46:15] may get discouraged in a moment you may

[46:17] have overwhelming feelings in a moment

[46:19] but God is greater than that first John

[46:21] 4:4 greater is he that is in you than he

[46:24] that is in the world and so he says get

[46:29] up the world ought to look at Christians

[46:55] moment you're alive today because of a

[46:58] but God

[46:59] moment some of you are have are enjoying

[47:03] the blessings of being married because

[47:15] God anytime I get

[47:18] discouraged but God anytime I go through

[47:21] a difficult

[47:22] situation but God I didn't know which

[47:25] one of the five he was working on on

[47:27] that he's going to end up teaching this

[47:28] morning but I'm thankful that we got a

[47:31] God who interrupts and interjects into

[47:35] our life when we're discouraged and

[47:36] we're defeated and he steps in and he

[47:39] does work in our lives it's but God

[47:41] moments ought to be thankful for

[47:49] those the other thing we ought to

[47:53] consider is when we have defeat that we

[47:56] didn't see coming we might want to check

[48:01] as the psalmist said in Psalm 139 search

[48:04] me oh God and know my heart try me and

[48:05] know my thoughts and see if there be any

[48:09] wicked way in

[48:12] me don't be achin and try to cover it

[48:16] aen takes a wedge of gold the silver uh

[48:18] the babylonish Garment and he digs a

[48:20] hole and he puts it under his

[48:21] tent he tries to hide it people usually

[48:25] only try to hide things because they

[48:27] know they're

[48:30] guilty it's kind of like the kid who

[48:33] comes and you know he's covering up his

[48:36] mouth did you get in a chocolate chip

[48:37] cook cookies I don't eat no

[48:41] cookies move your

[48:44] hand move your hand and then there's

[48:46] chocolate chip cookie residue all over

[49:01] out so moments of defeat that you didn't

[49:20] responses in a moment of defeat like AI

[49:24] you can either get up from doubt out and

[49:27] discouragement or you can get down on

[49:29] your knees in confession and

[49:45] himself have you ever done

[49:47] that have you ever took what belonged to

[49:50] Lord for

[49:54] yourself although I believe the Bible

[49:56] tells us we're not our own we've been

[49:58] bought with a price we're to glorify God

[50:01] in our life and in our

[50:03] body so my life is his to

[50:07] control but the moments that I

[50:09] take what belongs to the Lord and do

[50:12] with it what I want to do I've disobeyed

[50:18] God that applies to a whole lot of areas

[50:21] this morning of your

[50:24] life don't take what belongs to the Lord

[50:26] and use it for

[50:30] yourself and sometimes that happens in

[50:32] our

[50:33] lives we take time that belongs to the

[50:35] Lord and we use it for

[50:39] ourselves well I can't I can't come to

[50:41] church tonight you know the ball game's

[50:43] on I I can't come to church tonight I

[50:46] haven't slept all week I've been so busy

[50:49] I can't come tonight I'm battling the

[50:50] turkey

[50:54] nap it's time for God God that we take

[50:57] to

[50:59] ourselves I I I can't I can't I got I

[51:02] got this

[51:04] or maybe it's maybe it's in our finances

[51:06] we don't give God

[51:45] you've done you switch from tithing to

[51:50] tipping you're just saying well what do

[51:52] I got left here in my wallet that's what

[51:53] I'm going to leave as a

[51:55] tip and sometimes Believers listen we

[51:58] can do that with

[52:01] God you say well I had all the best

[52:04] intentions to give it to God first but I

[52:06] had this bill and this bill and this

[52:08] bill and this bill and this bill you got

[52:10] to give them

[52:12] first for some that may mean all right

[52:15] my check came out I'm writing my ti or

[52:17] I'm going I know one family that told me

[52:19] this week they said preacher we get paid

[52:20] we go straight to the bank we get out

[52:22] our ties put in our offering

[52:24] envelope go to the at and get it out put

[52:26] an offering

[52:28] envelope he said we want to make sure we

[52:30] give it to God

[52:33] first my my week is budgeted out with my

[52:37] tithe and giving already

[52:40] out it's already

[52:43] out Treasures Office gives me my check

[52:45] on

[52:47] Sunday I tithe Monday

[52:51] night gets deposited in the bank it's

[52:54] it's already out

[52:57] I I enjoy using our online giving

[52:59] program it's easier for me budget wise

[53:01] so it's already budgeted to come out

[53:04] Monday

[53:06] night if I don't get paid today and I

[53:09] don't have a check it's GNA bounce but

[53:11] it's coming

[53:12] out I make it up later get it out of the

[53:15] red it's coming

[53:18] out why because it belongs to the

[53:21] Lord hey I didn't always do

[53:24] that as a early believer when I first

[53:27] got a job as a early believer I struggle

[53:29] with

[53:30] that one because you're looking at like

[53:32] I don't have

[53:34] enough but then I remember this

[53:36] principle that God said I give you 90

[53:39] for you and 10 is all I ask from

[53:43] you then he tells us about giving

[53:45] offerings unto the Lord as

[53:48] well and I don't know about you but when

[53:50] you get to give an offering from your

[53:51] heart and an Act of Faith unto the Lord

[53:54] It's not obedience anymore it's faith

[53:58] and it increases your faith and it grows

[54:00] your faith so every time we give the

[54:03] opportunity to give to missions every

[54:04] time we give to other things that God

[54:06] puts on our heart to give we don't do it

[54:08] grudgingly or of necessity we do it

[54:10] because we love the Lord we give it to

[54:14] him but it's easy to take what belongs

[54:16] to the Lord and use it for yourself be

[54:19] your time it could be your tithe

[54:22] there'll be offerings unto the

[54:25] Lord there be all sorts of things that

[54:27] we

[54:28] take that belong to God and use it for

[54:32] ourselves don't be like

[54:35] aen

[54:37] today most of you I pray are not in the

[54:40] aen category you're not in the category

[54:43] that you're always sinning and therefore

[54:46] you're having a hard Christian life

[54:48] because you're living in continual

[54:51] sin and you won't confess and you won't

[54:54] get right first John we get confess our

[54:56] sins he is faithful and just to forgive

[54:58] us our sins and to cleanse us from all

[55:01] unrighteousness I hope this the defeated

[55:05] AI moments in your life are not because

[55:07] you're continually living in sin and you

[55:08] won't confess it I believe for most of

[55:10] us it's a growth process that God's

[55:12] trying to do in our lives but you get to

[55:14] choose whether you battle it with the

[55:16] discouragement or whether you battle it

[55:17] with

[55:19] trust that initial response of doubt and

[55:22] discouragement ought to collide with

[55:24] your faith and your your response should

[55:27] be I will trust in the Lord with all my

[55:29] heart I'll lean not into my own

[55:31] understanding in all my ways I'll

[55:32] acknowledge Him and He Shall direct my

[55:36] path my fear and my faith

[55:39] Collide and which one I feed will be the

[55:43] one that's

[55:45] strong which one do you feed fear or

[55:49] faith which one do you feed

[55:52] regularly which one's getting

[55:54] nourishment from you regularly from

[55:57] God's word and time with God's people

[56:00] which one's growing in your

[56:04] life Bible tells us in Timothy that God

[56:06] has not given us the spirit of fear but

[56:08] of power and of love and of a sound mind

[56:10] Adrian Rogers once said about fear that

[56:11] fear is the greatest crippler in all of

[56:13] history fear will keep you from

[56:16] following God if you let

[56:18] it but greater is he that's in you than

[56:22] he that's in the

[56:24] world so we're nearing the end of a

[56:29] year some of you have

[56:31] had some defeated moments this

[56:38] year some of you have had some

[56:41] moments that you didn't

[56:44] know how you're going to get

[56:51] through some of

[56:53] you earlier this year

[56:59] you didn't know where the money was

[57:00] going to come to pay the bills because

[57:02] you'd lost your

[57:04] job and

[57:06] doubt and discouragement were rolling in

[57:09] like

[57:11] waves and you had to battle that with

[57:13] your

[57:16] faith if you're not careful you can get

[57:18] like Joshua you can get down we can get

[57:20] discouraged we can put dust on our head

[57:24] and be defeated question in God doubting

[57:29] God some of you it's been health things

[57:31] this

[57:35] year I mean when you wake up one day and

[57:39] you can't stand up anymore it'll do

[57:41] something to

[57:45] you I speak from experience earlier this

[57:48] year it messes with

[57:51] you when you have to depend upon other

[57:54] people forever

[57:57] everything and get discouraging real

[58:00] quick and waves of doubt and

[58:03] discouragement can come flooding

[58:06] in and we're at the end of 2024 and some

[58:09] of you you've had AI after AI after AI

[58:14] moments this

[58:16] year but take

[58:18] heart this is what God wants to say to

[58:21] you get

[58:23] up I'm not through yet I'm still working

[58:28] I'm still in control I still have a plan

[58:31] he says get up get up my child don't

[58:35] stay down get up don't quit don't stop

[58:42] thinking about difficult moments that

[58:43] you face over and over and over again

[58:54] up because you can't see it but God's

[58:58] hand is reaching down to

[59:00] you and he says I'll help you

[59:04] up just reach out to me and he'll get

[59:09] up he brought us up out of the my clay

[59:11] and he set our feet upon a rock and

[59:13] established our goings he pulled you out

[59:16] of the myy sin depths said he saved your

[59:19] soul he reaches down in your doubt and

[59:22] discouragement your defeat and he lifts

[59:24] you

[59:25] up some of you may not know what

[59:27] tomorrow is going to bring you may not

[59:29] know what the last of December is going

[59:31] to bring healthwise for you there's

[59:33] tests on the horizon there's things on

[59:35] the horizon but listen get

[59:38] up take courage God is in

[59:41] control he knows exactly what he's

[59:45] doing and he's growing each and every

[59:49] one of

[59:53] us I haven't done it in a while due to

[59:59] restrictions but from what I understand

[60:01] about

[60:05] weightlifting you have to tear

[60:09] down in order to build up stronger in

[60:13] your

[60:15] biceps you hit you can't just hit a max

[60:20] weight one time you're to increase that

[60:23] weight and work hard at it and what

[60:26] happens the muscle tears down and the

[60:28] muscle builds back you know what God's

[60:30] trying to do for you for 2025 through

[60:32] 2024 he's tearing you down to build you

[60:34] back up even

[60:36] stronger he's doing some work in your

[60:38] life to help you be stronger for him in

[60:42] 2025 I just want you to look back over

[60:44] the last 11 months and look what God has

[60:46] done hey some of you weren't saved

[60:49] earlier this year you are now look what

[60:51] God has done hallelujah some of you were

[60:54] out of church and now you're in church

[60:56] Hallelujah some of you were discouraged

[60:59] and depressed and God said

[61:01] nope get up some of you faced

[61:05] hardships God said get up some of you

[61:07] didn't know where you're going to go and

[61:09] get your next paycheck but God provided

[61:11] it and God did it and now you're getting

[61:13] to reap the benefits of what God

[61:18] did might as well get up and say thank

[61:21] you Lord for getting me

[61:24] out and the next time a defeat comes out

[61:27] of nowhere and you didn't see it

[61:31] coming

[61:33] remember God said get

[61:38] plan battle your doubt battle your

[61:40] discouragement battle your fear and

[61:44] trust in God he will never leave thee

[61:49] forsake thee or fail the trust in him
