[0:05] Hurricane Andrew in South Florida in
[0:08] 1992. That Homestead Air Force base
[0:11] which was there. A lot of that area is
[0:12] certainly not as thickly populated as a
[0:15] big city like New Orleans is. So
[0:17] presumably this is so much worse. But
[0:20] give us a little bit more perspective.
[0:26] >> I'm losing I'm losing you, Wolf. Um if
[0:29] if you can still hear me, we will
[0:31] continue to try to reestablish contact,
[0:33] but uh we are we are losing uh our our
[0:37] contact with you. We're going to try and
[0:39] come back uh continue to give you as
[0:41] much uh information as we can pass on.
[0:43] Uh but a final thought is uh that again
[0:47] the fires are continuing to burn here.
[0:49] Uh and again, this is just the
[0:51] beginning. Only 24 hours into what is
[0:53] clearly a situation that could very well
[0:56] be deteriorating by the hour.
[0:58] >> All right, John, thanks very much. John
[1:00] Zerella reporting for us from New
[1:02] Orleans. John, we'll get back to you as
[1:04] soon as we can reestablish that
[1:06] satellite phone. He was joining us via
[1:08] video uh camera as uh as well. uh this
[1:13] uh situation clearly deteriorating in
[1:16] New Orleans and beyond. Happening now,
[1:19] rescues and hard realities in the
[1:21] hurricane disaster area. You're in the
[1:23] situation room where news and
[1:25] information about Katrina's aftermath
[1:27] are coming in simultaneously. We're
[1:30] watching all front. 3 p.m. along the
[1:33] ravaged Gulf Coast, Central time.
[1:35] People's lives are literally dangling.
[1:38] Members of the US Coast Guard still
[1:40] coming to the rescue. So, how many
[1:41] people will they save and how many uh
[1:45] might not make it? We're watching this
[1:47] story. A
