[0:00] Alaska, the last frontier of
[0:02] frivolousness. At President Trump's
[0:05] direction, the Justice Department sues
[0:07] to block certification of a Senate race
[0:09] that hasn't even happened. There's a
[0:12] limited ceasefire in Ukraine and
[0:14] discussions about three-way peace talks
[0:16] in November, while Trump says he may
[0:18] talk to Elon Musk about Ukraine's
[0:21] Starlink access. We run all of this by
[0:23] Ukraine's top diplomat in America. The
[0:27] Democrat's path back to power in the
[0:29] House of Representatives does not run
[0:31] through Omaha, Nebraska. But a win there
[0:34] certainly could help. We talked to the
[0:35] Democratic nominee Denise Powell.
[0:46] Hello everyone, I'm Major Garrett in New
[0:47] York. Welcome to the Takeout. We're
[0:49] going to begin and end tonight's show
[0:52] with a discussion of territories,
[0:54] stories of American expansion and what
[0:56] that brought to untamed and somewhat
[0:58] unknown parts of this continent. And we
[1:00] will start with Alaska, the last
[1:04] frontier, and a lawsuit brought today by
[1:06] the Trump Justice Department to
[1:08] invalidate a Senate election that has
[1:10] not been decided. Yes, you heard that
[1:12] correctly. Invalidate an election that
[1:16] hasn't been decided. At the end of our
[1:18] show, we're going to devote that to a
[1:20] discussion of the biggest territorial
[1:22] expansion in American history, the
[1:24] Louisiana Purchase, and the unique role
[1:26] President Thomas Jefferson played in
[1:28] that monumental acquisition. A special
[1:31] guest has written a new book on that
[1:33] subject, and that book would by itself
[1:36] justify her appearance. But the author,
[1:38] Laura Brown, happens also to be my wife.
