[0:00] Hi everyone, voters are turning this

[0:01] election day into a referendum on

[0:04] President George Bush as well as the war

[0:07] in Iraq with polls closed in almost half

[0:09] the country. Here is how the fight for

[0:11] control of the House and Senate is

[0:13] shaping up right now. In the House with

[0:15] all 435 seats up for grabs, CBS News

[0:19] estimates Republicans have won 90 seats,

[0:22] the Democrats have won 87 seats. By the

[0:24] end of the night, the Democrats need to

[0:26] take 15 seats from the Republicans in

[0:29] order to win control. Right now, CBS

[0:31] News estimates the Democrats have a net

[0:33] gain of one seat. Now looking at some

[0:36] key winners in the Senate, CBS News

[0:38] estimates that Bob Casey Jr. has

[0:40] defeated Republican incumbent Senator

[0:43] Rick Santorum. Casey is an

[0:44] anti-abortion, pro-gun Catholic

[0:47] representative of a new breed of

[0:49] Democrat. And in Ohio, Congressman

[0:51] Sherrod Brown has defeated Republican

[0:53] incumbent Senator Mike DeWine. Ohio is

[0:56] often seen as a real bellwether state

[0:59] for the rest of the election. The fight

[1:00] for control in the Senate should come

[1:02] down to races in these eight states. The

[1:04] Democrats have to hold on to their seats

[1:06] in Maryland and New Jersey and then must

[1:08] win four of the other six key races to

[1:11] take control. No decision yet in key

[1:13] Senate races in Missouri, Tennessee and

[1:15] Virginia. Stay with CBS for all the

[1:17] results at 10:00 Eastern. We'll take an

[1:19] hour-long look at today's election. I'm

[1:22] Katie Couric. You're watching Election

[1:23] Night here on CBS.

[1:29] Hi everyone, a majority of voters this
