[0:08] well in revelation 21 it talks about

[0:10] that and that's where we're gonna be at

[0:11] today revelation chapter number 21. uh

[0:14] this is part three in our revelation

[0:16] chapter one chapter

[0:19] study

[0:20] so we're on week number 58

[0:22] of studying the book of revelation so

[0:25] we're gonna begin reading in verse

[0:26] number nine

[0:28] and there came unto me one of the seven

[0:29] angels which had the seven vials full of

[0:32] the seven last plagues

[0:34] and talk with me saying come hither i

[0:37] will show thee the bride the lamb's wife

[0:40] so the portrayal of new jerusalem the

[0:43] lamb's wife

[0:45] there's not too much question about what

[0:47] this angel

[0:48] who ushers john uh as it says in verse

[0:52] number 10 and carries them away in the

[0:54] spirit of great and high mountain

[0:56] take some time to what is referring

[0:58] about he's going to show john

[1:00] the bride the lamb's wife

[1:03] so verse 10 he carries him up in the

[1:05] spirit in a great high mountain and

[1:07] showed me that great city the holy

[1:10] jerusalem descending

[1:12] out of heaven

[1:14] from god

[1:15] so some believe this city will sit upon

[1:17] the earth

[1:18] because it has foundations hebrews 11

[1:21] 10.

[1:22] many others believe this city will hover

[1:24] in the in outer space above earth

[1:27] at any rate everybody has access to this

[1:30] city it tells us that in verse 24.

[1:33] so in my estimation it's going to come

[1:35] down it's going to be visible from earth

[1:38] it's going to be able to be seen from

[1:40] earth and there's going to be access to

[1:41] it

[1:42] continues on having the glory of god

[1:45] and her light was likened to stone most

[1:48] precious

[1:50] even like a jasper stone

[1:52] clear

[1:53] as crystal

[1:55] the city does not generate its own line

[1:57] verses 23 and 24 it talks even more

[2:00] about that

[2:01] in those verses it says this and the

[2:03] city had no need of the sun neither a

[2:05] moon to shine in it for the glory of god

[2:08] did lighten it and the lamb is the light

[2:11] thereof

[2:12] and so it there's no need for its own

[2:15] light but rather the light comes from

[2:16] the son of god

[2:18] so also the believer does not produce

[2:20] our own light we just reflect the light

[2:22] of the sun we're kind of like the moon

[2:25] the moon has no light of its own it just

[2:27] reflects the light of the sun

[2:29] so the

[2:30] city as it comes down there's a light to

[2:33] it and it's like a jasper stone clear as

[2:36] crystal so

[2:37] imagine a light shining through a

[2:40] diamond and they're reflecting and

[2:42] refracting all the colors of the rainbow

[2:44] that's the brightness of this city

[2:48] continues on in verse 12 and had a great

[2:51] a wall great and high

[2:52] and had 12 gates

[2:54] and at the gate 12 angels and the names

[2:57] written thereon which are the names of

[2:59] the 12 tribes of the children of israel

[3:02] and on the east three gates and on the

[3:04] north three gates and on the south three

[3:06] gates and on the west three gates

[3:10] and the wall of the city had twelve

[3:12] foundations

[3:13] and in the name

[3:15] of the twelve apostles of the lamb

[3:18] so here's this city that's coming down

[3:20] it continues on and he talked with me

[3:23] the angel did to john and had a golden

[3:25] read to measure the city

[3:27] now the read was a measurement it was uh

[3:30] different lengths at different times but

[3:32] it was considered a standard of

[3:34] measurement to measure the city and the

[3:36] gates thereof and the wall thereof

[3:38] verse 16 the city lieth four square

[3:42] the length is as large as the breath

[3:44] and he measured the city with the reed

[3:46] twelve thousand furlongs the length and

[3:49] breadth and the height of it are equal

[3:52] so the shape of the city

[3:54] the measurements are equal about fifteen

[3:57] hundred miles wide by 1500 miles long

[4:04] by 1500 miles high

[4:08] now some think this city will be a

[4:09] sphere which rests in space like another

[4:12] planet

[4:13] some believe it to be a perfect cube

[4:16] most believe it to be like a

[4:18] pyramid-like instructure with christ as

[4:20] the chief cornerstone appearing at the

[4:23] top where the throne is located and from

[4:26] which the river of pure water

[4:28] will issue found in chapter 22 verse

[4:30] number one

[4:32] which says this and he showed me a pure

[4:33] river of water of life clear as crystal

[4:36] proceeding out of the throne of god and

[4:39] of the land

[4:41] so there's the shape of the city

[4:43] whether it's the circle whether it's the

[4:45] square whether it's the pyramid-like

[4:47] structure it's a massive

[4:49] massive structure

[4:51] the walls of the city verse 17. he

[4:53] measured the wall thereof 144 cubits

[4:57] according to the measure of man that is

[4:59] of the angel

[5:01] and the building of the wall of it was

[5:03] of jasper and the city was pure gold

[5:06] like under clear glass

[5:09] so the walls are worth 216

[5:12] feet thick a cubit was considered from

[5:16] the end top of the middle finger to the

[5:19] bend of the elbow in most cases or

[5:21] approximately 18 inches so we find 216

[5:25] feet thick

[5:27] 216 feet high

[5:29] and appeared to john to be made of

[5:31] jasper

[5:33] the city is brilliantly transparent and

[5:35] the light of christ radiates to all

[5:38] those around it and so can you imagine

[5:40] the brightness

[5:42] of the glory of new jerusalem that's

[5:45] come down from heaven

[5:48] the walls of the city as we've talked

[5:50] about are so bright and it radiates

[5:52] around the whole earth

[5:54] the foundation of the city in verses 14

[5:56] 19 and 20

[5:58] here is a multi-colored foundation of 12

[6:01] precious stones let's look at verse 19.

[6:03] the foundations of the wall of the city

[6:05] were garnished with all manner of

[6:07] precious stones the first foundation was

[6:10] jasper the second sapphire the third

[6:12] calcadani the fourth in emerald the

[6:14] fifth sardix the sixth sardis the

[6:17] seventh crystallite the eighth barrel

[6:19] the ninth of topaz the tenth of chris so

[6:22] pereiras the 11th adjacent the 12th and

[6:25] amethyst

[6:26] the 12 gates were 12 pearls and every

[6:29] several gate was one pearl and the

[6:31] street of the city was pure gold as

[6:33] transparent glass

[6:35] so the foundations of the city are

[6:37] there's 12 foundations

[6:39] the first is jasper jasper is a clear

[6:41] and diamond light

[6:43] sapphires are blue in color the cow

[6:46] kadetti is a agate thought to be like

[6:48] sky blue with colors

[6:51] emerald is a bright green sardix is red

[6:54] with white stone

[6:55] sardis is a stone that's red in color

[6:58] barrel is a sea green in color

[7:01] topaz is yellow slash green and is

[7:04] transparent the uh chrysophorus is

[7:07] another shade of green

[7:09] jackson say has a variation of many

[7:13] colors

[7:14] amethyst is purple

[7:16] so can you imagine all these precious

[7:19] stones the brightness the colors of the

[7:21] rainbow that are shining forth from the

[7:24] city it's foundation it's a beautiful

[7:27] beautiful place and of great value john

[7:31] tells us that christ said i go to

[7:33] prepare a place for you

[7:35] it has names of them

[7:38] if this city is the church gathered

[7:40] together the bride of christ that is

[7:42] fitting that the foundation be made up

[7:44] with the names of the apostles and

[7:46] prophets which it tells us that the

[7:48] foundation had the names of the twelve

[7:50] apostles of the lamb

[7:52] the gates of the city in verse 21

[7:54] they're they're made of pearl

[7:56] some say it's impossible for the gates

[7:58] to be of pearl because there's not an

[8:00] oyster that's that big enough that could

[8:03] make a gate

[8:04] but they for get those something that's

[8:07] really important

[8:09] christ spoke the world into existence so

[8:11] christ could speak into existence a

[8:14] pearl

[8:16] he could do that if he wanted to now

[8:17] pearls

[8:19] come from the sea

[8:20] they're not mined from the rocks of the

[8:22] earth

[8:23] a pearl begins as a grain of sand which

[8:25] cuts into the side of a living organism

[8:29] to protect itself that organism covers

[8:31] itself with layer upon layer of fluid

[8:34] until a beautiful pearl is formed

[8:37] the pearl of the gates of the city could

[8:39] possibly be to remind us that we're just

[8:42] dirt

[8:43] that hurt the sight of jesus and was

[8:45] covered by his righteousness that's what

[8:47] one author wrote

[8:49] pearls are expensive

[8:51] and christ gave his life for us

[8:54] for the price of the pearl

[8:57] the street of the city is pure gold as

[8:59] it were transparent glass

[9:02] the world hasn't discovered gold that

[9:04] pure we've got 18 karat gold and 12

[9:07] karat gold 24 karat gold

[9:09] but we don't have gold that's pure like

[9:12] in glass

[9:13] the world hasn't discovered that yet

[9:15] it's astonishing that there is a

[9:16] transparent metal that's yet to be found

[9:19] called gold

[9:21] we don't we do know that a metal lead

[9:23] can produce what is known as lead

[9:25] crystal

[9:26] which is transparent imagine gold

[9:29] crystal streets

[9:30] it seems that the streets are

[9:32] transparent so the glorious light of

[9:33] christ can be seen throughout the city

[9:36] of god

[9:38] what a sight

[9:39] john saw that day

[9:41] and one day my friend if you know jesus

[9:43] christ as your savior you'll see this

[9:46] and you'll get to go into this now

[9:51] discussed the exterior of the city

[9:54] next week we'll dive into the interior a

[9:57] little bit and talk about some of the

[9:58] things the bible says is in there

[10:02] but i want you to picture in your mind

[10:04] the beautiful brightness

[10:06] of the majesty of god

[10:08] that there's no need for the sun

[10:11] imagine the precious stones and the

[10:13] jewels and the gates of pearl and the

[10:16] street of gold and how beautiful that

[10:19] place is

[10:21] and then think about you

[10:23] i think about myself

[10:25] and how unworthy i am to be called a

[10:28] child of god

[10:29] and how blessed we are that we have been

[10:33] saved by the blood of lamb that christ

[10:35] died for us

[10:37] so today as you think about heaven you

[10:39] think about the new jerusalem

[10:42] put yourself in your proper place

[10:45] i'm reminded of isaiah chapter 6 when he

[10:47] said i saw the lord high and lifted up

[10:51] when god's in his proper place

[10:54] it puts us in his proper place isaiah

[10:56] said

[10:57] he felt woe is me for i am undone for

[11:00] i'm a man of unclean lips and i dwell in

[11:02] the midst of the people of unclean lips

[11:05] for my eyes have seen the king

[11:08] when god's put in his proper place

[11:11] we will be humbled by that fact i look

[11:14] forward to the day

[11:15] you say a preacher why didn't you go

[11:17] into more detail

[11:19] i can just give you what the bible says

[11:22] i think there's some beauties and

[11:23] glories there that are beyond compare

[11:26] and words cannot describe

[11:28] all the excitement there can you imagine

[11:31] fifteen hundred miles wide

[11:33] by fifteen hundred miles wide

[11:36] by fifteen hundred miles high

[11:38] that's a big place

[11:40] that god's prepared for you

[11:43] and if that stuff those precious stones

[11:46] the street of gold if that's on the

[11:48] outside

[11:49] just imagine

[11:51] what's on the inside

[11:53] so for today remember this the best is

[11:56] yet

[11:57] to come

[11:58] one day soon

[12:00] we'll be in heaven with god

[12:02] until that day

[12:04] be faithful to god keep serving him with

[12:07] your life
