[0:07] California wildfires turn acre after
[0:10] acre mile after mile into a war
[0:14] zone an army of firefighters is battling
[0:17] the enemy from the air and on the
[0:21] ground while civilians by the thousands
[0:23] flee their homes as the Flames move in
[0:27] you won't see a Santa Ana fire come down

[0:31] in San Diego a huge swath of
[0:33] uncontrollable destructive wildfires are
[0:36] burning all over Southern California
[0:38] from north of Los Angeles all the way to
[0:40] Mexico turning this entire region into a
[0:43] living
[0:48] C this is the CBS Evening News with
[0:52] Katie curing reporting tonight from
[0:54] Southern
[0:56] California good evening everyone this is
[0:58] Qualcomm Stadium home of the San Diego
[1:01] Chargers but tonight it's home to more
[1:03] than 10,000 people who have fled the
[1:05] wildfires burning out of control in a
[1:07] wide area of Southern California the
[1:10] biggest evacuation since hurricanes
[1:12] Katrina and Rita in San Diego County
[1:15] alone 346,000 homes have been ordered
[1:18] evacuated the Flames have already burned
[1:20] more than 350,000 acres of land
[1:23] throughout the region at least two
[1:25] deaths are reported hospitals treated
[1:27] more than 40 people for injuries
[1:30] President Bush has declared Seven
[1:31] Counties Federal disaster areas more
[1:34] than a dozen fires are now burning out
[1:36] of control and we have a team of
[1:38] correspondents deployed throughout the
[1:40] fire zone Bill Whitaker and Lake
[1:42] Arrowhead which looks like a smoky Ghost
[1:45] Town John blackstones covering the
[1:47] massive evacuations Dean Reynolds is
[1:49] with firefighters on the front lines and
[1:52] the earl
