[0:47] revealed we're so excited you took the

[0:49] time

[0:50] to check out this video today as you can

[0:53] see the rapture hasn't happened as of

[0:55] the filming of this video but it still

[0:57] could happen

[0:58] at any moment today we're looking in

[1:00] revelation

[1:01] chapter number five we left off last

[1:04] week at the end of chapter four but

[1:05] we're diving in this week

[1:07] to revelation chapter number five so

[1:09] let's begin reading in verse number one

[1:12] john says and i saw in the right hand of

[1:14] him that sat on the throne a book

[1:17] written within and on the backside

[1:20] sealed with seven seals and i saw a

[1:23] strong angel

[1:24] proclaiming with a loud voice who is

[1:27] worthy to open the book

[1:29] and to loose the seals thereof and no

[1:32] man in heaven

[1:33] nor in earth neither under was able to

[1:37] open the book

[1:38] neither to look there upon and i wept

[1:41] much

[1:42] because no man was found worthy to open

[1:46] and to read the book neither to look

[1:48] thereon

[1:49] now the scene let's set the scene from

[1:51] chapter four where no

[1:53] we know we're at the throne room of god

[1:55] the time here is

[1:56] after the rapture of the church in

[1:58] heaven

[1:59] and it talks about here that john sees

[2:02] on the right hand of him that's set upon

[2:03] the throne of book

[2:05] so a book is there now we're not talking

[2:07] about a book that we're used to seeing

[2:10] john would describe a book as a scroll

[2:12] that was rolled up and this scroll

[2:15] that's rolled up has seven seals but

[2:17] it's interesting

[2:18] as we look at this scroll that the seven

[2:22] seals are there and it's an important

[2:24] document but also

[2:26] verse number one it tells us that

[2:28] there's writing inside

[2:30] and on the backside of this document

[2:33] now many have purposed in their heart to

[2:36] sell it could be this or it could be

[2:38] that

[2:39] but i believe we could arrive at this

[2:41] point this is an important document

[2:43] the things that are contained therein

[2:45] are of great importance

[2:48] and so we as we look at it we understand

[2:51] what the meaning of the document is

[2:53] from chapter 5 6 7 and continuing there

[2:56] on

[2:57] it is the title to the universe

[3:00] the possession of the universe as well

[3:03] as inside that scroll is god's dealings

[3:06] with mankind their sin their need of

[3:09] redemption

[3:10] the judgments that are going to take

[3:12] place in the next few chapters during

[3:14] the tribulation period

[3:15] the millennial kingdom and god's plan

[3:18] for the future

[3:19] are all contained in this scroll now the

[3:22] number seven

[3:24] has been considered many times in

[3:25] scripture the number of perfection

[3:28] when god created mankind he gave adam

[3:32] dominion over the creation

[3:36] over the fowls of the air over the beast

[3:39] of the field

[3:40] he gave them dominion over the land of

[3:42] the sea but something happened

[3:45] sin entered into the world and by the

[3:48] bible tells us that when adam sinned

[3:51] mankind has to endure the curse of sin

[3:54] now no longer did man have dominion

[3:58] power was given it was transferred over

[4:01] and we know the bible describes it that

[4:03] satan is the ruler of this

[4:05] world for the time being but there's

[4:08] coming a day

[4:10] when it's all going to change there's

[4:12] coming a day

[4:13] when we find here in revelation chapter

[4:16] 5

[4:17] that there's one here who needs to open

[4:20] the book

[4:21] to redeem the creation of god

[4:25] to redeem mankind now you'll notice in

[4:28] our text

[4:29] that it's sealed with the seven seals

[4:32] verse two says i saw the strong angel

[4:34] now the word strong angel or mighty

[4:36] angel

[4:37] is only mentioned in the book of

[4:38] revelation and it's mentioned three

[4:40] times

[4:41] here in chapter 5 but also in chapter 10

[4:44] verse number 1

[4:45] and chapter 18 verse number 21

[4:49] so those three instances there's a

[4:51] strong or

[4:52] mighty and the other two angels but

[4:54] having the same meaning

[4:56] so it's interesting evidently there is

[4:58] an angel that's

[4:59] mightier stronger than the other angels

[5:03] now this strong angel cries out with

[5:06] a loud voice who

[5:10] is worthy to open the book

[5:13] and to loose the seals thereof the

[5:16] question is made in heaven

[5:19] who is worthy you'll notice that verse 3

[5:22] says and no man in heaven

[5:24] nor in earth neither under the earth was

[5:27] able to

[5:28] open the book neither to look thereupon

[5:32] john says that he began to weep much

[5:34] because no man was found worthy

[5:37] to open the book neither to look there

[5:39] on john is overwhelmed with emotion

[5:43] seeing the importance of that document

[5:47] knowing perhaps that god's plan for

[5:50] mankind was contained

[5:52] therein he begins to weep

[5:55] he begins to cry but

[5:58] there's a verse number five in verse

[6:01] number five the bible says

[6:02] and one of the elders said unto me now

[6:04] last week we mentioned who these 24

[6:07] elders were two weeks ago

[6:08] we mentioned who these 24 elders were

[6:11] they were representatives of the saved

[6:13] of all nations we know

[6:14] that from chapter five verse number nine

[6:18] but we know these elders there so one of

[6:20] the elders one of the

[6:21] redeemed saints of god one of those that

[6:24] have been saved by the blood of the lamb

[6:26] speaks to john and says in verse 5 weep

[6:30] not behold the lion of the tribe of

[6:34] judah

[6:35] the root of david has prevailed to

[6:38] open the book and to loose the seals

[6:41] thereof

[6:43] the first characteristic you're given is

[6:45] the lion of the tribe of judah in

[6:48] genesis 49

[6:49] 9-10 it is mentioned about out of judah

[6:52] the ruler of the earth shall come out of

[6:54] judah the

[6:57] promised one is going to spread forth

[6:58] and talk mention shiloh

[7:00] is going to come but it continues on

[7:03] and it says the root of david isaiah 11

[7:06] 1 talks about the branch from the roots

[7:09] of david that will rule

[7:11] earth and be the ruler of mankind and we

[7:14] know that genesis

[7:16] and isaiah were fulfilled

[7:19] in jesus christ you'll notice it says he

[7:23] hath prevailed he has the right to take

[7:26] the book

[7:27] to open the seals and to read the book

[7:30] he has the right to do those things now

[7:34] why does he have the right why is he

[7:37] able to do that

[7:38] now you'll notice in the text it says

[7:40] that he hath prevailed to open the book

[7:43] and to loose the seals thereof but what

[7:46] makes him worthy

[7:47] what makes him one was it just because

[7:49] of the family he was born into

[7:51] was it just because now i want you to

[7:54] remember

[7:55] that before there was a tribe of judah

[7:58] jesus was there

[8:00] before there was a root of david the

[8:02] lord was already there

[8:04] he became before david but the bible

[8:06] talks about him humbling himself

[8:08] and being born of a virgin from the

[8:11] tribes of judah and being the

[8:14] root of david well that's not the only

[8:18] reason

[8:19] there's more that's happening in verse

[8:21] number six it says this and i be held

[8:24] and lo in the midst of the throne and of

[8:27] the four beasts

[8:28] and in the midst of the elders stood a

[8:31] lamb that has had been slain

[8:34] having seven horns and seven eyes which

[8:37] are the seven spirits of god sent forth

[8:40] into all the earth now i want you to

[8:43] look very closely in your bible

[8:45] in verse number six when it says stood a

[8:48] lamb what word what how do you see the

[8:51] word lamb presented there

[8:53] well in my bible it's capitalized it's a

[8:55] name

[8:56] it's not a bad ass sheep it's a title

[8:59] given

[9:00] to the lamb of god so he's a lamb that's

[9:03] been pictured as a

[9:05] sacrifice for sin but he's not dead he's

[9:08] alive

[9:09] he had been slain but he's resurrected

[9:12] from the dead

[9:13] he is alive and the picture here is that

[9:16] he is described as having

[9:18] seven horns representative of his

[9:21] perfect power as king almost as a kingly

[9:24] crown and his eyes are as the seven

[9:27] attributes of the holy spirit's working

[9:29] upon mankind

[9:31] jesus's omniscience and his omnipresence

[9:34] all of this is giving us this great

[9:36] picture

[9:37] of the one who is worthy to open the

[9:41] book

[9:42] the one who redeemed mankind by his shed

[9:46] blood on the cross

[9:47] the one who it tells us in ephesians

[9:49] chapter 4 that we are sealed until the

[9:51] day of redemption

[9:53] and this day he's going to redeem it

[9:56] he's going to open up the book

[9:57] he walks forward and he takes the book

[10:00] look what it says in verse number 7 and

[10:02] he came

[10:03] and took the book out of the right hand

[10:05] of him that sat upon the throne

[10:08] he takes the book he's got the power to

[10:11] redeem mankind he's got the power

[10:14] to redeem this earth oh how the earth

[10:17] has been scorched the earth has seen

[10:19] hurricanes the

[10:20] earth has seen terrible things that the

[10:22] desert lands and all the things that are

[10:25] happening upon the earth is because of

[10:27] sin

[10:28] sin destroys sin kills

[10:32] sin causes problems and it's always been

[10:34] a sin

[10:35] problem ever since adam's sin it's been

[10:37] a sin problem for the world

[10:39] it's been a sin problem for mankind now

[10:42] this scroll that's rolled up and sealed

[10:45] it's written on both sides it's got a

[10:47] redemptive plan attached to it

[10:50] and only one was worthy only one was

[10:54] worthy to open the book

[10:55] now i want you to notice as the lamb

[10:57] he's pictured

[10:59] here now the lamb is not an animal but

[11:01] it's a title

[11:02] it's you notice the capitalization as we

[11:05] said now i want to point something out

[11:06] to you

[11:07] jesus is called the lamb twice in the

[11:10] old testament

[11:11] in isaiah 53 7 and jeremiah 11

[11:14] 19. two times in the gospel in the book

[11:18] of john chapter 1 verse number 29 and

[11:20] chapter

[11:21] chapter 1 verse 36 now isn't it

[11:24] interesting this is just a thought

[11:26] isn't it interesting that john who in

[11:28] chapter 1 of his gospel

[11:30] describes jesus as the lamb of god sees

[11:34] the lamb the land that had been slain

[11:37] knowing of god's redemptive plan for

[11:39] mankind

[11:40] but you'll notice also one time in the

[11:43] book

[11:43] of acts as he mentioned acts 8 32 as the

[11:46] lamb

[11:48] one other time in the new testament

[11:49] epistles in 1st peter chapter 1

[11:52] verse 19. but i'm so excited to tell you

[11:56] that in revelation 28 times in 27 verses

[12:01] he is mentioned as the lamb this is

[12:03] going to be his

[12:04] description because the whole book as

[12:06] we've talked about

[12:07] is jesus is dealing with mankind

[12:10] and his work with mankind and god's plan

[12:14] for mankind it's all about

[12:16] him and him being revealed since chapter

[12:19] one

[12:20] but he's mentioned as the lamb the

[12:22] redemptive power

[12:23] of the lamb of god which taketh away the

[12:26] sin of the world

[12:27] which died on the cross for you and i

[12:29] and became the passover lamb

[12:31] i don't have time today to go through

[12:34] all the blessings that come

[12:36] from the realization of the lamb of god

[12:38] as he took away our sin

[12:40] but he's not just the lamb you'll notice

[12:43] in verse 5

[12:44] one time in scripture as he mentioned

[12:47] this the lion

[12:49] the lion he is the land that was slain

[12:52] but he's also the lion who's the judge

[12:54] the lion who rules and the lamb

[12:57] referencing his first coming when he

[12:59] came and he died upon the cross

[13:01] so you and i can be saved the lion's

[13:04] referencing

[13:05] his second coming when he returns to

[13:07] this earth to rule

[13:08] and to reign and to judge from the seat

[13:12] of david as the root of david

[13:14] out of the tribe of judah as the lion of

[13:17] judah

[13:18] i'm looking forward to the day that we

[13:20] get to see him ruling and reigning and

[13:23] when he does the earth is drastically

[13:25] going to change

[13:26] here in the next few chapters the earth

[13:29] is going to go through something it's

[13:30] never been through before

[13:33] and then after those seven years the

[13:35] earth is going to go something it's

[13:37] through something it's never done before

[13:40] mankind is about to experience here in

[13:42] the next few chapters something they've

[13:44] never experienced before

[13:45] oh yes there's been tribulation there's

[13:47] been trouble but nothing like what's

[13:49] gonna happen during the seven year

[13:51] tribulation period

[13:52] and what happens during the millennial

[13:54] kingdom a perfect king

[13:56] it will not just be a christian nation

[13:59] it'll be a christian world as jesus

[14:03] rules

[14:03] from the throne now it continues on he

[14:06] took the book from the right hand

[14:08] and when he had taken the book verse 8

[14:12] and when he had taken the book the four

[14:13] beasts and the 420 elders fell

[14:16] down before the lamb having every one of

[14:19] them harps and golden vials

[14:21] full of odors which are the prayers of

[14:24] the saints

[14:25] after he takes the book everyone

[14:27] recognizes

[14:28] he is worthy everyone recognizes he

[14:31] needs to be praised

[14:33] i'm so excited to tell you today they're

[14:35] all going to kneel down

[14:37] and they're going to worship the lamb of

[14:39] god who's the lion of god

[14:41] and they're going to praise him notice

[14:43] the vials that are here

[14:44] that contain the prayers when we pray

[14:47] our praises that we pray

[14:49] to god are going to be heard poured out

[14:52] before him the bible describes it

[14:54] and so we're excited about this part the

[14:56] angels those beasts

[14:58] as we described them last week and the

[15:00] elders the representatives of the saved

[15:02] of all mankind

[15:04] fall down and worship the lamb and look

[15:06] at verse nine look what they say

[15:08] and they sung a new song saying thou art

[15:11] worthy

[15:12] to take the book and to open the seals

[15:15] of

[15:15] thereof for thou wast slain past

[15:18] tense and hast redeemed us to god

[15:22] by the blood out of every kindred and

[15:24] tongue

[15:25] and people and nation and has made us

[15:28] unto our god

[15:29] kings and priests and we shall reign

[15:33] on the earth verse 9 and 10 the elders

[15:36] are crying out with that new song

[15:39] crying out they were redeemed by the

[15:41] blood

[15:42] of the lamb they were redeemed to god

[15:46] out of every kindred and every tongue

[15:48] and people and nation

[15:50] representative of all the same of all

[15:53] time

[15:53] these representatives cry out how worthy

[15:57] the lamb is and my friend you and i need

[15:59] to start practicing now

[16:01] thanking god for the redemptive power

[16:04] that he has to save

[16:06] any sinner who needs to be saved my

[16:08] friend if you're watching this video

[16:10] this morning

[16:10] and you do not know jesus christ as your

[16:13] personal savior

[16:14] no matter how many sins you've committed

[16:16] no matter how many things you've done

[16:18] wrong

[16:19] the lamb of god's got enough blood to

[16:21] take away your sin

[16:22] to forgive you of your sin so that you

[16:25] could be here on this day crying worthy

[16:28] is the lamb

[16:29] that was slain but christian friend i

[16:31] want to point out to you verse number 10

[16:34] he has made us under our god kings and

[16:36] priests and we shall reign on the earth

[16:38] i'm looking forward to the day

[16:40] of the rapture of the church it's the

[16:42] next thing on god's prophetic calendar

[16:45] i'm looking forward to the day to bowing

[16:47] down and worshiping

[16:49] at the lamb of god's feet and crying out

[16:51] worthy

[16:52] is the lamb that was slain and i'm

[16:54] looking forward to the day

[16:56] to coming back with him as he rules and

[16:58] reigns on this earth

[16:59] to be part of his ministry and part of

[17:02] his

[17:03] ministry to the people there that time

[17:05] the bible tells us that after the

[17:06] rapture of the church said so

[17:08] shall we ever be with the lord god's got

[17:11] a plan for you christian

[17:13] god's got a wonderful thing in store for

[17:15] you you ought to practice now praising

[17:17] the lamb

[17:18] you ought to practice now thanking the

[17:20] one who died for you

[17:22] you ought to practice knowing he's the

[17:23] king it doesn't matter who wins in

[17:25] november

[17:26] it doesn't matter who thinks they're

[17:28] going to be in charge because they're

[17:29] not in charge

[17:30] only the lamb is the one worthy to be

[17:33] praised

[17:34] i hope you come tonight to church

[17:36] because i'm a little wound up already

[17:38] and we'll see you next time here at
