[0:03] Miami Beach, Richard Berettto. Let's

[0:04] listen to that.

[0:07] Good evening. My name is Richard Berto.

[0:08] I'm the chief of police for the city of

[0:09] Miami Beach. On my right is Paul

[0:12] Phillips, special agent in charge of the

[0:14] Federal Bureau of Investigation. And on

[0:16] my left is Doyle Jordan, the special

[0:19] agent in charge of the Miami Office of

[0:20] the Florida Department of Law

[0:21] Enforcement.

[0:22] Shortly after 4:00 p.m. on this date, a

[0:25] caretaker arrived at 5250 Collins

[0:28] Avenue, the house boat that is right

[0:30] behind me. Upon entering the residence,

[0:33] there the caretaker heard a gunshot, at

[0:36] which time he retreated and called the

[0:38] police department. Units from the Miami

[0:41] Beach Police Department arrived and

[0:42] secured the scene. Subsequently, a

[0:46] special response team from the Metro

[0:47] Date Police Department was requested to

[0:50] provide assistance.

[0:52] Attempts to solicit a response from

[0:53] inside were unsuccessful.

[0:56] An entry was made into the housebo at

[0:59] which time a white male victim was

[1:01] located.

[1:03] The scene has now been turned back over

[1:05] to Miami Beach Police Department

[1:07] investigators who are working very

[1:09] closely with agents from the floor from

[1:11] the Federal Bureau of Investigation and

[1:13] the Florida Department of Law

[1:14] Enforcement as they have been since the

[1:16] shooting of Giani Versace on July 15th.

[1:22] At this time, we are waiting for the

[1:24] arrival of forensic units from the Metro

[1:26] Date Police Department in an effort to

[1:28] try to preliminary identify the

[1:30] deceased. We have that information.
