[0:00] Africa for the next millennium.
[0:05] This is the CBS Evening News
[0:09] with Dan Rather reporting from CBS News
[0:12] headquarters in New York.
[0:14] >> Good evening. There could be a decision
[0:16] within 48 hours on whether to shift
[0:18] focus on the crash of Egypt Air 990 to a
[0:22] criminal investigation. This comes after
[0:24] initial information from the jet's
[0:26] cockpit voice recorder has raised
[0:29] serious questions about what the pilots
[0:31] were doing before and during the plane's
[0:33] final moments and plunge into the sea.
[0:36] CBS's Bob our has the latest. Bob Dan.
[0:39] Federal investigators tonight are not

[1:04] depths of the Atlantic over the weekend
[1:06] is raising serious questions about the
[1:08] actions of the pilots in the cockpit of
[1:10] Egypt Airflight 990. Sources say the
[1:13] recorder has captured the voice of one
[1:15] of the pilots, believed to be the
[1:16] co-pilot, making some type of religious
[1:19] statement that could be a prayer just
[1:21] before the jet went into its fatal dive.
[1:24] But there's no agreement on what the
[1:26] prayer means, whether it was routine or
[1:28] something more ominous. In any case,
[1:31] there is no proof at this point that the
[1:32] prayer had any connection to the
