[0:03] This is the CBS Evening News. Dan Rather
[0:06] reporting. Good evening. The explosive,
[0:09] sometimes violent debate over abortion
[0:11] is moving back to the nation's highest
[0:13] court. The US Supreme Court agreed today
[0:16] to review a Missouri state law that is
[0:18] aimed at curbing abortions. This could
[0:21] lead to a narrowing or even a reversal

[1:18] should be reconsidered and discarded.
[1:21] >> Our position is that the state certainly
[1:23] does have the prerogative to set certain
[1:25] standards for public health and safety.
[1:27] >> It means that it would allow all kinds
[1:30] of restrictions on women's access to
[1:31] abortion.
[1:32] >> The Reagan Justice Department sided with
[1:34] Missouri, and today's action fulfills
[1:36] the ho
