[0:06] and we're in chapter 15 this is week

[0:09] number 34

[0:11] chapter 15 of the book of revelation

[0:14] we're going to be in the first four

[0:16] verses today

[0:17] of revelation 15. the bible says this in

[0:21] verse number one

[0:22] and i saw another sign in heaven

[0:26] great and marvelous seven angels having

[0:29] the seven

[0:30] last plagues for in them is filled up

[0:33] the wrath of god and i saw as it were a

[0:36] sea of glass

[0:38] mingled with fire and then that had

[0:40] gotten victory over the beast

[0:42] and over his image and over his mark and

[0:45] over the number of his names stand on

[0:47] the sea of glass

[0:49] having the harps of god and they sing

[0:51] the song of moses

[0:53] the servant of god and the song of the

[0:55] lamb

[0:56] saying great and marvelous are thy works

[1:00] the lord god almighty just and true are

[1:04] thy ways

[1:04] thou king of saints who shall not fear

[1:07] thee

[1:07] o lord and glorify thy name

[1:11] for thou only art holy for all nations

[1:15] shall come and worship before thee for

[1:18] thy

[1:18] judgments are made manifest

[1:21] in the book of revelation there are

[1:23] three series of judgments that are

[1:25] listed

[1:26] the seal judgments chapters 4 and 5 the

[1:30] trumpet judgments chapter 8 and 9

[1:32] and now the vile judgments chapter 15

[1:35] and 16.

[1:37] the seal judgment takes place over years

[1:40] during the tribulation period

[1:42] and include the other two series of

[1:44] judgments

[1:45] the trumpet judgments take place over

[1:47] months and include

[1:49] the bull or vile judgments the final

[1:52] vital judgments take place

[1:54] over weeks and happen in rapid and

[1:56] intense

[1:57] succession each of these series of

[2:00] judgments

[2:01] is more severe than the preceding one

[2:05] because of the time element involved it

[2:06] seems that some of these judgments

[2:09] actually happen simultaneously with some

[2:12] of the other judgments

[2:13] this set of vile judgments will be the

[2:16] final judgments

[2:17] that will take place before jesus

[2:19] returns to finally

[2:21] end it all for believers during the

[2:23] tribulation days the conclusion of these

[2:26] judgments

[2:27] will be a great blessing and relief and

[2:29] deliverance will be theirs

[2:31] for those unbelievers though this will

[2:33] be a

[2:35] terrible time those that have taken the

[2:38] mark of the beast

[2:39] things will only get worse that's

[2:42] because jesus will return and they will

[2:44] die

[2:44] and their eternity will be sealed in

[2:47] eternal damnation

[2:49] the word vile actually means bold or a

[2:52] broad

[2:52] shallow cup it may be likened to the

[2:55] sensors of numbers chapter 16

[2:58] which were used as fire pans that

[3:00] contained hot coals in them

[3:02] they were considered holy and their

[3:04] content should be quickly

[3:06] or suddenly emptied once the last vial

[3:10] is poured out the tribulation period

[3:12] or of seven vials will come to a

[3:15] conclusion

[3:16] these final judgments of god upon the

[3:18] earth will be swift and more intense

[3:21] than any before the long-suffering god

[3:24] will be long-suffering

[3:25] no more and at long last he will pour

[3:29] out his wrath and vengeance upon the

[3:31] world

[3:32] chapter 15 is god's last action against

[3:35] the spiritual criminals

[3:36] that have destroyed the earth his

[3:39] evidence against them will never be

[3:41] contradicted

[3:42] for god knows everything about them both

[3:44] inwardly and outwardly

[3:47] his witness will never be intimidated

[3:49] for they are under

[3:50] his divine protection his officers

[3:53] cannot be bribed for they are the holy

[3:55] angels of god

[3:57] his penalty cannot be stayed by some

[3:59] legal technicality

[4:01] for he sets the time of execution and he

[4:03] has the ultimate power

[4:05] to carry it out chapter 15

[4:08] is a but a little picture of what d is

[4:11] detailed in chapter 17

[4:13] about these vials so let me start off

[4:16] today that's kind of an introduction

[4:18] into our section

[4:19] but let me start off today with the

[4:21] prelude to the vile

[4:23] judgment now preludes are musical

[4:26] introductions there's what's played

[4:29] right at the beginning of a service that

[4:31] when our services are happening our

[4:34] piano player plays for just a little bit

[4:36] it's pre

[4:37] it's before so the prelude here

[4:41] uh is what we find here this is what

[4:43] happens here the number seven is

[4:45] mentioned

[4:46] eight times in this chapter

[4:49] it speaks of completeness and finality

[4:52] in this chapter

[4:54] so the first thing you're going to

[4:55] notice is there's a sign in heaven look

[4:57] if you would at verse number one i saw

[4:59] another sign in heaven this

[5:03] another sign which indicates that there

[5:06] were

[5:06] other signs that preceded this one

[5:10] one was a woman clothed with the sun she

[5:12] was found in

[5:14] in revelation chapter 12 verse number

[5:16] one

[5:17] another was the great red dragon who is

[5:19] satan in

[5:20] chapter 12 verse 3. this

[5:24] is a sign that indicates we've come

[5:27] back to the timeline pictures

[5:30] and we're in sequence once again verse

[5:33] 1 tells us about this sign in heaven

[5:36] it's great

[5:37] and marvelous it's great and marvelous

[5:40] because of the terrible things that are

[5:41] about to happen

[5:43] the words great and marvelous are

[5:45] nowhere else to be found together in the

[5:47] bible except

[5:48] here in this chapter these words

[5:50] describe the terribleness of god's wrath

[5:53] and the justice of god in his dealings

[5:55] with men

[5:56] this justice comes only after god has

[5:59] sent his prophets

[6:00] his preachers his missionaries his

[6:03] evangelists to tell the world about

[6:04] god's mercy

[6:06] and goodness and yet mankind is still

[6:09] rejected god the seven angels it

[6:12] mentions

[6:13] excuse me the seven angels having the

[6:16] seven last plagues

[6:19] these seven angels with the vile speak

[6:20] of the fullest measure of god's wrath

[6:23] upon the earth

[6:24] the vials contain the wrath of god which

[6:26] will be poured out upon the earth

[6:29] by these seven angels look at that it

[6:31] says for them it's

[6:32] filled up no room left total to the top

[6:36] the wrath of god's getting ready to be

[6:38] poured out i've heard it said this way

[6:40] the

[6:40] undiluted wrath of god's getting ready

[6:43] to be poured out upon mankind during the

[6:45] vile judgments

[6:48] you'll notice in verse 2 he says and i

[6:49] saw watch this

[6:51] as it were a sea of glass

[6:54] you know when you read that phrase there

[6:57] the sea of glass the

[6:58] as it were means that it's a picture

[7:01] the sea was like glass perhaps

[7:04] indicating the

[7:05] calmness and peace but look at the sea

[7:08] of glass

[7:08] is mingled with fire we'll talk more

[7:11] about that in just a moment

[7:13] it's mingled with fire and them that had

[7:15] gotten the victory over the beast

[7:18] and over his image and over his mark and

[7:21] over the number of his names stand on

[7:23] the sea of glass

[7:24] having the harps of god so it

[7:27] indicates the calmness and the peace now

[7:30] who are these people they're the martyrs

[7:32] that had in following christ it talks

[7:36] about their peace

[7:37] that's there and so however

[7:40] this piece is mingled with fire which

[7:44] speaks to the fiery trials

[7:46] of the martyrs and the saints of god

[7:48] went through john points out that

[7:50] they were the people there that had

[7:52] gotten victory over the beast

[7:54] his image his mark and over the number

[7:57] of his names

[7:58] which means this during the tribulation

[8:00] they were unwilling to bow

[8:02] before the beast or his image or to take

[8:04] his mark or

[8:05] his number and that victory over that

[8:08] how'd they get victory you say

[8:10] how did they have victory over the beast

[8:14] the beast killed him the antichrist is

[8:17] going to martyr all those who oppose

[8:20] his rule and reign he they're martyred

[8:22] they're

[8:23] killed and they're in heaven gathered

[8:25] around the throne of god notice chapter

[8:27] 13

[8:28] of revelation verses 1 to 10 talks about

[8:30] this only

[8:31] as well this group is one of three

[8:34] groups that are allowed to play

[8:36] in god's harp symphony we could call it

[8:39] number one is those that were raptured

[8:41] in the glory revelation chapter five

[8:43] verse number eight

[8:44] the second group is the 144 thousand we

[8:47] saw them in chapter 14

[8:48] and verse number two this third group is

[8:51] the tribulation martyr standing on the

[8:53] sea of glass here in chapter 15 verse 2.

[8:57] what a great time of music what a great

[9:00] time of music this leads to

[9:02] a point the next point in what they're

[9:04] singing notice if you would in verse

[9:05] number three

[9:07] they sing a song of moses the servant of

[9:09] god

[9:10] and the song of the lamb saying great

[9:12] and marvelous are thy works lord god

[9:14] almighty

[9:15] just and true are thy ways thou king of

[9:18] saints

[9:19] they have the harps of god and they sing

[9:21] the song of moses and the song of the

[9:23] lamb

[9:24] so what are these two songs the song of

[9:26] moses it pictures the joy

[9:29] that the people had when moses brought

[9:31] them across the red sea

[9:33] they saw great deliverance of god and

[9:35] the death of the egyptians

[9:38] similarly when the martyred saints see

[9:40] the deliverance

[9:41] that god provides them in that day they

[9:44] too will experience the joy that brought

[9:46] a song in moses's

[9:48] day incidentally some teach that this

[9:51] could

[9:52] include another song of moses mentioned

[9:54] in deuteronomy 32

[9:56] verses 1-43 particularly verses 39 and

[10:00] 43.

[10:02] perhaps these tribulation saints could

[10:03] be singing those words

[10:05] in revelation these saints have been

[10:07] crying out to god in chapter 6 verse 10

[10:10] how long how long especially as it

[10:13] appeared that god was losing the battle

[10:15] on earth can you imagine being one of

[10:17] those tribulation saints

[10:19] you're around the throne room of god and

[10:20] you're looking on earth and you're

[10:22] seeing the antichrist power grow

[10:24] you're seeing the beast and the false

[10:26] prophet and everything that's happening

[10:28] upon the earth

[10:29] how it is getting worse and worse and it

[10:31] appears that god

[10:33] is losing how long

[10:37] but no now there would be a

[10:40] victory how sweet it is it's a song of

[10:44] victory over

[10:45] death sin and the grave all made

[10:49] possible by the shed blood of the son of

[10:51] god

[10:52] you know what's interesting is the first

[10:54] song recorded

[10:56] in the bible the first song recorded

[10:59] as the song of moses in exodus 15

[11:03] and the last song of the bible is also

[11:05] called

[11:06] the song of moses in chapter

[11:09] 15 of revelation verse number 3. paul

[11:13] wrote in romans

[11:14] 8 22 for we know that the whole creation

[11:17] groaneth and travaileth in pain together

[11:20] until now so the song of moses

[11:24] secondly it says that they're singing

[11:26] the song of moses the son of god

[11:28] and the song of the lamb the song of the

[11:31] lamb it's verses three

[11:32] and four there's a great message here on

[11:35] worship let's look at verse three

[11:37] great and marvelous are thy works lord

[11:39] god almighty

[11:40] just and true are thy ways thou king of

[11:43] saints

[11:44] who shall not fear thee o lord and

[11:45] glorify thy name

[11:47] for thou only art holy for all nations

[11:51] shall come and worship before thee

[11:53] for thy judgments are made manifest

[11:56] his works whoever you see excuse me

[11:59] whenever you see

[12:00] worship in the bible especially in the

[12:02] old testament

[12:04] it always encompasses a review of what

[12:07] god

[12:07] has done this requires that we count our

[12:11] blessings from god and see

[12:13] what he's done his works and the song

[12:16] here they're singing is great and

[12:17] marvelous

[12:18] are thy works they're singing praise to

[12:22] god

[12:22] because jesus christ is getting ready to

[12:25] judge the world the end of these bold

[12:29] judgments will culminate with the return

[12:32] of jesus christ to the physical earth

[12:35] you'll have the battle there the final

[12:37] battle there during the tribulation

[12:39] period but then it will also go into the

[12:41] millennial kingdom and

[12:42] the final battle at the end but we see

[12:45] here this song about his

[12:47] works notice about also his ways verse 3

[12:51] it says that his ways are just and true

[12:55] just and true sometimes we fail to

[12:57] understand

[12:58] that god's ways are best they didn't

[13:02] always think that it seemed as if god

[13:04] was failing

[13:05] romans 11 33 says this o the depth of

[13:08] the riches

[13:10] both of wisdom and the knowledge of god

[13:13] how unsearchable

[13:14] are his judgments and his ways past

[13:17] finding out you've seen to them at that

[13:21] moment

[13:22] they've been singing how long how long

[13:25] almost as if their hope was gone but now

[13:29] on this day

[13:30] they'll be singing just and true are thy

[13:33] ways thy king of saints

[13:36] praising the lord for what he's done you

[13:38] notice also his worth in verse 4

[13:41] they recognize who god is who shall not

[13:45] fear thee

[13:46] o lord and glorify thy name

[13:49] we not only thank you for what you've

[13:51] done but we worship you for who you are

[13:54] and notice verse 4 all nations

[13:58] shall come and worship before thee

[14:02] all nations shall come before thy

[14:04] judgments

[14:05] are made manifest when we look at this

[14:08] text here it gives us the prelude

[14:10] of what's about to happen in the next

[14:12] few chapters

[14:14] the sign that they see in heaven the

[14:17] marvelous

[14:18] and great judgment of god that's getting

[14:21] ready to fall upon the earth

[14:23] the angels that are gathered there the

[14:26] songs that they're singing

[14:28] it culminates this the end is near

[14:32] here in the next few chapters we'll be

[14:34] looking at it more intently

[14:36] as the vile judgments play out the

[14:39] return of jesus christ

[14:41] the entering into the millennial kingdom

[14:44] the final battle and the end

[14:46] the new heaven and the new earth it's

[14:48] getting better and better

[14:49] so if we could say it this way in this

[14:52] part of the tribulation period

[14:53] we've gone through some of the trumpet

[14:55] judgments we've gone through the sealed

[14:58] judgments

[14:59] uh we know that the last seal opens into

[15:02] the seven

[15:03] trumpets and the seven trumpets the last

[15:05] trumpet opens into that

[15:07] into the vile judgments but we're at a

[15:09] point that it's getting ready to end

[15:12] satan's had a time that he's thinking

[15:14] he's won

[15:15] but the victory's coming real soon in

[15:18] the

[15:18] end god wins in the end so just be

[15:22] reminded you want some good news

[15:24] here's the good news in the end god wins

[15:26] in the end jesus christ will rule

[15:29] and reign in the end all those that

[15:33] have been saved by the blood of the lamb

[15:35] will rejoice

[15:36] forevermore and so shall we ever be with

[15:40] the lord we look forward to
