[0:00] Either she goes or I go.
[0:05] >> Austin Powers is back.
[0:09] >> And his shagadelic dance scene is
[0:10] another ET first. Plus,
[0:14] meet the women of bikini.com.
[0:20] >> This is Entertainment Tonight, the most
[0:22] watched entertainment news program in
[0:24] the world. Here's the top news from
[0:26] Hollywood for this Friday, February
[0:28] 19th, 1999. Hi everybody, I'm Bob Goen
[0:31] >> and I'm Mary Hart. Jack Nicholson last
[0:33] night was a clown out on the town
[0:35] grinning and kissing and Mark Stein went
[0:37] to find out why.
[0:40] >> It's monumental and ongoing.
[0:43] Anything else?
[0:45] Acting more like school boys than
[0:47] superstars, Jack Nicholson and Dustin
[0:49] Hoffman hammed it up for photographers.
[0:51] Starting off a celebrity studded night
[0:53] with a kiss. I got to ask you, what's it
[0:55] like to get a kiss from Jack Nicholson?
[0:57] >> He's a good kisser.
[0:58] >> He's a good kisser.
[0:59] >> I was expecting a rougher uh chin, but
[1:02] he's he he had shaved close.
[1:04] >> He shaved for you tonight.
[1:06] >> Yes, for me. Yes.
[1:09] >> Jack Nicholson and Warren Batty are just
[1:11] two of the big stars here tonight to
[1:13] toast the man who was Tootsie. What's so
[1:15] great about Dustin Hoffman?
[1:16] >> Dustin Hoffman, I I'd be a year talking
[1:18] to you, but um
[1:21] so many things. So many things.
[1:23] >> Leaving his famous friend speechless.
[1:25] Dustin Hoffman was the humble honore of
[1:28] the AFI Life Achievement Award. Why you
[1:30] so nervous about tonight?
[1:31] >> I think it's easier to give than to get.
[1:34] >> What's he like between?
[1:36] >> He's very serious and he knows more
[1:38] dirty jokes than anybody I know. So it's
[1:40] really
[1:40] >> What's the best thing you can say about
[1:42] this guy?
[1:42] >> Oh god. Uh he's a dream. He's actually
[1:46] uh my mentor. In fact, if anybody is,
[1:48] it's Dustin.
[1:49] >> Dustin Hoffman.
[1:51] >> Airing this spring on ABC. Dustin was
[1:53] presented the award by good pal Jack,
[1:55] who seemed more in the mood to roast
[1:57] than to toast the great actor.
[1:59] >> I got such good stuff for him. I I don't
[2:01] want to get crazy and waste it. You know
[2:03] what I mean? He is funny.
[2:08] >> Thanks a lot, Mark. You know, I bet
[2:09] Nicholson and Hoffman just might
[2:10] remember the swinging 60s when things
[2:12] were a bit more, you know, shagadelic.
[2:15] And now, as Leonard Malton tells us,
[2:17] Mike Myers is back for a groovy Austin
[2:19] Powers sequel in this ET first. You
[2:22] can't dance.
[2:23] >> I love you.
[2:27] >> The millennium is upon us, but poor
[2:29] Austin Powers is still stuck in the 60s.
[2:31] And this time, he's really stuck
[2:36] in The Spy Who Shagged Me. Austin time
[2:39] travels back to 1969 landing on Carnaby
[2:42] Street where he encounters Heather
[2:43] Graham playing CIA spy Felicity
[2:46] Shagwell. You just can't say Shag enough
[2:48] in an Austin Powers movie.
[2:50] >> Do one groovy burn Felicity Shag.
[2:54] >> Mr. Burn back to Mr. Elvis Costello.
[2:58] Luckily for Austin, Grammy nominees
[3:00] Backreck and Costello take that same
[3:02] trip back, providing him with perfect
[3:04] music to shag by.
[3:08] >> When he finishes dancing, Austin's off
[3:10] to look for his lost mojo, which was
[3:12] stolen long ago by archeneemy Dr. Evil.
[3:14] Then, of course, he's got to save the
[3:16] world one more time. All in a day's work
[3:18] for Austin Powers.
[3:23] >> I just love that guy. Thanks, Leonard.
[3:25] Austin Powers, the spy who shagged me.
[3:27] hit theaters in June. But opening
[3:29] nationwide this weekend, Jennifer
[3:31] Aniston co-stars in the comedy Office
[3:34] Space. Laura Durn will be leading the
[3:36] cast in the drama October Sky. And
[3:39] Jawbreaker is a dark comic parody of
[3:41] high school horror films.
[3:43] >> Entertainment Tonight first broke the
[3:45] story of Riley Weston, the writer
[3:47] actress in Hollywood masquerading as a
[3:49] teenager to get younger parts. And now
[3:51] 60 Minutes has picked up the story. If
[3:54] you're going to consider that, you know,
[3:55] the age a dirty little secret, then you
[3:57] should consider the implants a dirty
[3:58] little secret and change of hair color
[4:00] and change of name and change of eye
[4:02] color and that should be dirty, too. And
[4:04] it's not. 60 Minutes broadcasts Riley
[4:07] Weston's first TV interview since
[4:08] Entertainment Tonight revealed her true
[4:10] age.
[4:11] >> Why did you lie about your age?
[4:13] >> The news magazine incorporates our
[4:15] exclusive interview and onset footage in
[4:18] their story of the former Felicity
[4:19] actress writer. And the 32-year-old
[4:21] tells Mory Saber that she is now shunned
[4:23] by the entertainment industry.
[4:25] >> She says that essentially the phone does
[4:28] not ring. Um, her agent doesn't even
[4:32] call her.
[4:33] >> Weston, who had changed her name from
[4:35] Kimberly Kramer, was dubbed a teenaged
[4:37] phenom and was awarded a six-f figureure
[4:39] contract with Disney to create new TV
[4:41] shows. Safer says the negative reaction
[4:44] to her charade is proof that Hollywood
[4:46] is youth obsessed.
[4:47] >> It's a massive form of age
[4:49] discrimination. There's no question.
[4:52] >> That 60 Minutes report on AISM in
[4:54] Hollywood airs Sunday night on CBS.
[4:57] >> Leading the Entertainment Tonight news
[4:59] brief, America's most talked about
[5:02] intern will finally do her own talking.
[5:05] Reportedly, Monica Lewinsky will be
[5:06] grilled tomorrow by Barbara Walters in
[5:08] Manhattan. While independent council
[5:10] Kenneth Star approved the interview, he
[5:12] restricted Monica's conversation to what
[5:14] she's already testified about. This
[5:16] morning on the View, Barbara's co-stars
[5:18] said that was no problem.
[5:19] >> She knows how to move.
[5:20] >> I love it.
[5:21] >> And after a year of unemployment,
[5:23] Lewinsky could finally earn some money.
[5:25] A British TV outlet will reportedly pay
[5:27] her $600,000 for their own interview.
[5:30] ABC and Barbara Walters will pay
[5:32] nothing.
[5:34] Tammy Wette's daughters are taking their
[5:36] fight to exume and autopsy their
[5:37] mother's body to 2020's Cynthia McFaden.
[5:40] >> We have questions that need and deserve
[5:42] to be answered. Wette's death at age 55
[5:45] was attributed to a blood clot, but the
[5:47] sisters believe medical examiners
[5:49] ignored other factors. Topping their
[5:51] list is their mother's dependence on
[5:52] painkillers, which began after having a
[5:54] hyerectomy at age 29 and persisted until
[5:57] she died.
[5:58] >> She probably slept 14, 15 hours out of a
[6:00] day.
[6:01] >> Her fans may have believed that she had
[6:03] in fact kicked her addiction to
[6:04] narcotics, to painkillers, that she was
[6:07] never able to really beat uh this demon.
[6:11] Wet's daughters speak tonight on 2020
[6:13] Friday on ABC.
[6:15] >> From Madonna to Shaniah, Will Smith to
[6:17] Jerry Seinfeld, the nervous nominees are
[6:20] counting down till next week's 41st
[6:21] annual Grammy Awards. And we went
[6:23] straight to the site where they're
[6:25] gearing up for music's biggest night.
[6:29] Running the gamut from Will Smith to
[6:30] Ricky Martin, the Dixie Chicks to the
[6:32] Goooo Dolls. This morning, the Grammys
[6:34] were gearing up for the most diverse
[6:36] group ever. And host Rosie O'Donnell
[6:38] sings the praises of them all. I'd like
[6:40] to play tambourine for someone. I'm just
[6:42] putting it out there now.
[6:43] >> Rosie just brings that little element of
[6:45] edge, which is exactly what we want on
[6:46] this show.
[6:47] >> Shaniah Twain will steam up the stage
[6:49] performing Man I Feel Like a Woman while
[6:51] blind Italian tener Andrea Bochelli and
[6:53] Selene Deion reame for The Prayer.
[6:58] >> He's a wonderful, incredible talent,
[7:00] that's for sure. I don't need to tell
[7:02] you that, but he's a wonderful human
[7:04] being. R&B star Brian Mcnite's in the
[7:06] running for two Grammys. lets me know
[7:08] that the the the work that I'm doing is
[7:10] uh yeah, I'm going the right track.
[7:12] >> And Jerry Seinfeld joked his way to a
[7:14] nomination for his live comedy album.
[7:21] >> Fivetime Grammy winner Cheryl Crowe was
[7:23] thinking about taking a break from the
[7:25] biz before she was showered with six
[7:27] nominations.
[7:28] >> And then I thought, all right, maybe
[7:30] I'll stay in music.
[7:34] Perhaps the most heated battle is
[7:36] between album of the year front runners
[7:38] Madonna and hiphop phenom Lauren Hill.
[7:40] >> This year we're going to find out how
[7:42] hip or hip hop the Grammys really are.
[7:44] And Lauren Hill's going to tell us that.
[7:49] >> One hot race and you can see them all
[7:51] when the Grammys are live on CBS
[7:53] Wednesday night.
[7:55] >> What's next for the docks of ER? Well,

[8:14] in the Entertainment Tonight cover
[8:15] story, including a minute-by-minute
[8:17] reconstruction of the crime.
[8:19] >> You have potential stun gun uh marks
[8:23] from a taser stun gun on the body of
[8:25] John Benet. Coming up on ET.

[12:37] >> Eric Lel has escaped the ER as Dr. Peter
[12:40] Benton on the acclaimed NBC series. Eric
[12:42] is making a few house calls down south.
[12:45] >> My mother's a southern woman, so I I
[12:47] just appreciate that southern
[12:48] hospitality. It's a far cry from the
[12:51] hectic pace of life in the ER, but
[12:53] shooting on location in Central Florida
[12:55] suits Eric Lasowl just fine.
[12:57] >> People have really, really gone out of
[12:59] their ways to just be, you know, very
[13:00] friendly, but genuinely so.
[13:02] >> And
[13:03] here, there's no charge.
[13:05] >> While Eric is enjoying his time in the
[13:07] South, his character isn't so lucky. A
[13:09] temporary job in a Mississippi town
[13:11] proves to be an eyeopening experience.
[13:15] encounters poverty um beyond his you
[13:19] know any anything that he's ever known
[13:21] um you know blatant racism.
[13:24] >> Sir, your daughter needs some tests. She
[13:26] don't need nothing from you.
[13:28] >> Next Thursday's episode of ER will focus
[13:30] primarily on Dr. Benton and Eric feels
[13:33] up to the task.
[13:34] >> Love the ensemble. I love you know my
[13:36] cast members but you know um I'm you
[13:39] know obviously glad and thrilled and
[13:41] challenged. I'm trying to hold my own. I
[13:43] got worried.
[13:44] >> It was a breach. Mother and baby are
[13:47] fine. But
[13:47] >> the episode comes at an exciting time in
[13:50] Lasal's life. He recently got a call
[13:52] from Shawn Penn about a film project
[13:54] with Penn and Marlon Brando.
[13:56] >> He was wondering if I would be
[13:57] interested in meeting with he and Marlon
[13:59] Brando. And uh I mean who's going to
[14:02] turn that one down? So
[14:05] >> could be interesting. across the prime
[14:07] time dial. While Dharma and Greg's Jenna
[14:09] Elkman heads to the big screen next
[14:11] month in Ed TV, her partner Thomas
[14:13] Gibson headed off to New York's fashion
[14:15] week inside Hollywood.
[14:20] >> I wouldn't say that, you know, shopping
[14:23] is something we enjoy,
[14:25] >> but Thomas Gibson was among the stars
[14:27] taking in the Tommy Hilfiger fashion
[14:29] show in New York. Gibson is a big fan of
[14:31] the popular designer and since he and
[14:33] his wife Christina are expecting a baby
[14:35] boy in June, they've been snapping up
[14:36] everything. Tommy,
[14:38] >> the baby line is there. It's there. It's
[14:39] just a the paternity line, I think, is
[14:42] something that's absent right now that
[14:43] would be very useful in our household.
[14:48] >> And surfs up on the successful new
[14:50] website Bikini.com, featuring bathing
[14:52] beauties like Russianborn Irene KNik. If
[14:55] you get lonely, you just could go online
[14:58] and find yourself a friend like me.
[15:01] >> Hi.
[15:02] >> Bikini.com is drawing up to 10 million
[15:04] hits a week from all over the world.
[15:06] >> We get traffic coming from China, from
[15:08] Croatia, from Australia.
[15:12] >> I can't imagine. And for much more about
[15:14] all those bikini clad beauties in
[15:16] cyerspace, you can also click over to
[15:18] our ET website. For more than two years,
[15:21] John Bené Ramsay's parents have denied
[15:23] involvement in their daughter's murder.
[15:25] Coming up, the Entertainment Tonight
[15:26] cover story has more from the new book
[15:28] on the case. What the housekeeper saw
[15:31] that led police to suspect one of the
[15:33] parents.
[15:35] Dela Ree reveals her real life family
[15:37] feud.
[15:38] >> My mother is not cold in her grave yet,
[15:42] and you've got this woman in her
[15:44] kitchen.
[15:46] >> Vanessa L. Williams. She was dating one
[15:49] basketball star. Now she sets the record
[15:51] straight on those rumors about Michael
[15:53] Jordan. Next on ET.
[15:59] >> You want incredible color, but you also
[16:02] want incredible hair. Color that lasts
[16:04] and color that's gentle. It's not
[16:06] impossible with Hydrrians. Incredible
[16:08] color that's incredibly gentle. Its
[16:10] unique water-based color cream hydrates
[16:12] your hair with luxurious moisture richch
[16:14] color that lasts and lasts. But hydrants
[16:17] won't shock your hair. It's a gentle,
[16:19] permanent way to color. So you're a
[16:20] beautiful blonde, brunette, red head,
[16:23] and your hair is silky and shiny.
[16:25] Introduce your hair to Clarel Hydrrians.
[16:27] Incredible color that's incredibly
[16:29] gentle.
[16:30] >> Crash bang. Boom. It's all here on Real
[16:33] TV when a couple of prisoners drunk on
[16:35] Allade Brew decide to tear the place
[16:37] apart. Now that's a bad idea. Then our
[16:40] cameras take you to the village where
[16:42] locals beat the stubbing out of each
[16:44] other one day every year for the past
[16:46] 700 years. Plus, see a suicide chunk
[16:49] turn into something that looks like it
[16:50] ought to be in a movie. And the reason
[16:52] why you don't want to mess with the
[16:53] cop's K9 dogs on Real TV
[16:57] tonight at 7:30 on Coin TV 6.
[17:10] Dodge Intrepid styling speaks for
[17:12] itself.
[17:13] As for what's underneath,
[17:16] Car and Driver had a few words of their
[17:18] own.
[17:25] Get a welle equipped Intrepid for
[17:26] 20,4.95.
[17:30] >> An exclusive you'll only see on Donnie
[17:32] and Marie.
[17:35] >> It's music megastar Stevie Wonder.
[17:41] >> On Donnie and Marie
[17:43] >> Monday morning at 9
[17:44] >> on Coin TV 6.
[17:45] >> This is a generation of slackers.
[17:49] I don't think so.
[17:54] >> More like a generation of free climbing,
[17:56] dust kicking, racing to the top of the
[17:58] hill and fly by the seat of your pants
[18:00] and Wrangler driving adventurers.
[18:03] >> Jeep Wrangler. Everything about it is
[18:05] outrageous except for the price. We like
[18:08] to feel the good in our kids while we
[18:10] still have them.
[18:12] >> Check one out at your Jeep.
[18:15] >> Disney Park has arrived. I am from the
[18:18] planet Mars
[18:19] >> and the laughs
[18:20] >> burden
[18:21] >> are out of this world.
[18:23] >> Hey, spaceman.
[18:25] >> Sorry about that.
[18:26] >> Disney's My Favorite Martian, rated PG,
[18:28] now playing.
[18:31] >> Monday on Entertainment Tonight, the
[18:33] Alley Kiss cliffhanger. Will they or
[18:36] won't they take it into the bedroom?
[18:38] Only we have the answer and the
[18:39] exclusive scenes with her ex Billy.
[18:43] Inside a celebrity mansion. 10,000
[18:46] square ft. A swimming pool. Italian
[18:48] antiques. A hidden bar. Guess which
[18:50] blonde star is giving us the grand tour.
[18:55] Martha Stewart's spring wedding preview.
[18:57] The diamonds, the dresses, the flowers.
[19:00] Even how you can recreate Matt Lowour's
[19:02] ceremony from the table setting to the
[19:04] cake to the actual invitations. That is
[19:07] Monday.
[19:09] >> Vanessa L. Williams has heard the rumors
[19:11] about a romance with Michael Jordan for
[19:13] weeks. Now she's setting the record
[19:15] straight. Vanessa's talking tough and
[19:17] playing a tough cop on her new movie.
[19:19] >> Tell your officers to holster the
[19:21] weapons.
[19:21] >> Who the hell are you?
[19:23] >> Lieutenant McDonald's, H&T. I've been
[19:26] negotiator.
[19:26] >> Vanessa L. Williams gets tough with a
[19:28] new sassy short hairdo and a
[19:30] hard-hitting role as a fiery hostage
[19:33] negotiator in the film Light It Up.
[19:35] >> Stand down.
[19:36] >> A strong lady, and she's definitely
[19:38] leading the pack. So, it's exactly what
[19:40] I enjoy and um it's exactly what I knew
[19:42] I could pull off.
[19:43] >> I said, "STAND DOWN. HOLD YOUR FIRE. The
[19:46] students in there." Filming in the
[19:48] chilly Chicago location, which doubles
[19:50] as a New York high school under fire,
[19:52] William stars opposite Jud Nelson and
[19:54] Forest Whitaker. But her biggest
[19:56] incentive for taking on the project came
[19:58] from R&B singer Usher.
[20:00] >> My kids are big fans of his and if I
[20:02] didn't take this job, they'd kill me.
[20:05] >> Offscreen, romance has played a
[20:07] challenging role in her life. Williams
[20:08] and Los Angeles Laker Rick Fox recently
[20:11] ended their relationship amidst rumors
[20:12] of Vanessa being wooed by another
[20:14] basketball star.
[20:16] >> There's this gigantic rumor that uh uh
[20:19] Michael Jordan was going to leave his
[20:20] wife for me, which I find fascinating
[20:22] since I've never met the man.
[20:25] >> So there Vanessa's movie Lighted Up is
[20:28] due out this fall.
[20:29] >> As TV's top angel, Dela Ree brings
[20:31] people together, but in real life, Dela
[20:33] endured a painful family rift. Now she
[20:36] reles it in a new TV documentary.
[20:39] >> I drove a taxi cab for a while. I drove
[20:42] a truck for a while.
[20:43] >> The life and times of Dela Ree is the
[20:46] focus of an intimate portrait on cable's
[20:48] lifetime network. It looks back five
[20:50] decades to her teenage years when she
[20:52] mourned the death of her mother. I
[20:54] stayed in my room for 3 days and when I
[20:57] came back my hair was gray in the front
[21:02] and we buried her and
[21:08] there was a lot of emptiness because she
[21:11] filled our home. Dela's heartache was
[21:13] heightened by her father who began a
[21:15] relationship with another woman soon
[21:17] after the funeral. And I said, "My
[21:19] mother is not cold in her grave yet, and
[21:23] you've got this woman in her kitchen.
[21:26] Either she goes or I go." And he said,
[21:31] "I'm going to miss you." And so I left
[21:33] in a huff with a big steamer trunk and
[21:37] 13 cents.
[21:39] >> After years of separation, Dela finally
[21:42] reconciled with her father, who consoled
[21:44] her after her first marriage ended in
[21:46] divorce. I knocked on his door and he
[21:49] reached out and grabbed me. He never
[21:51] said.
[21:55] He never said, "I told you so." He never
[21:58] said, "You shouldn't have done it." He
[22:00] just reached out and held me in his
[22:02] arms.
[22:04] Intimate Portrait Dela Ree premieres
[22:06] Tuesday on Lifetime Cable.
[22:12] Ever since the 1996 killing of John Bené
[22:15] Ramsay, there has been a frenzy of
[22:16] tabloid speculation, but no arrests.
[22:19] Now, the author of a new book zeros in
[22:21] on the person he considers most likely
[22:23] to be accused of the murder in this
[22:25] Entertainment Tonight cover story.
[22:30] At 5:52 in the morning, Paty Ramsay
[22:32] supposedly came down a stairs, found a
[22:35] ransom note on a spiral staircase, ran
[22:38] back upstairs, saw her daughter was
[22:40] missing. She called her husband, the
[22:41] husband came downstairs, 911 was called,
[22:44] and then the discrepancies start.
[22:47] >> The murder of beauty queen John Benet
[22:49] Ramsay has stumped law enforcement
[22:51] experts for over two years. And that has
[22:53] inspired Lauren Schiller to zoom in on
[22:55] the investigation in Perfect Murder,
[22:57] Perfect Town. and his ground zero is
[22:59] John Benet's mother.
[23:01] >> It's likely that Paty Ramsay will be
[23:03] indicted.
[23:03] >> The most direct link to the murderer
[23:05] seems to be the ransom note that was
[23:06] left in the house. And all fingers have
[23:08] been pointing at Paty Ramsay.
[23:10] >> The ransom note has Paty Ramsay's
[23:13] handwriting, at least to the exclusion
[23:15] of everybody else. Uh it's her pen. Uh
[23:19] it's her pad and the pad is left close
[23:23] to where the note was supposedly found.
[23:26] Little John Benet was killed by a blow
[23:28] to the head and strangulation. Her body
[23:30] was found by her father inside the
[23:32] basement wine celler wrapped in a
[23:33] blanket. The
[23:34] >> events after the initial blow to John
[23:36] Benet's head took anywhere from 10 to 40
[23:39] minutes. And therefore, the person
[23:41] committing this crime uh who had to move
[23:44] the body, place a noose around the
[23:46] child's head, wrap the body in a
[23:49] blanket, that person had to feel
[23:51] comfortable in the house. The Ramsay's
[23:53] housekeeper provided a stunning clue
[23:55] that the blanket around John Benet's
[23:57] body means the murderer probably knew
[23:58] the house.
[23:59] >> Linda Hoffman Pew herself had made the
[24:01] bed on Monday morning with a certain set
[24:04] of sheets and a white blanket and a
[24:06] comforter. When the police arrived, it
[24:08] was different sheets on the bed and the
[24:10] blanket and the sheets seem to have been
[24:12] in the washer dryer. It seems unlikely
[24:14] that anybody that was not familiar with
[24:16] the house would have known where the
[24:18] blanket was if in fact it was in the
[24:20] washerdryer. Schiller does not say who
[24:23] killed John Benet, but points to the
[24:24] difficulties in solving the case. He
[24:26] says there is a lot of evidence not
[24:28] linked to John or Paty Ramsay that would
[24:30] keep them from ever being convicted.
[24:32] >> You have a footprint that was found
[24:34] close to the uh body in the wine celler.
[24:37] You have a palm print on the door to the
[24:39] wine celler. You have potential stun gun
[24:42] uh marks from a taser stun gun on the
[24:45] body of John Benet. Any good defense
[24:47] attorney, if the Ramsies are charged in
[24:50] this crime, not saying they committed
[24:51] it, is going to be able to raise
[24:53] reasonable doubt.

[31:22] >> When the sheriff's dogs are after you,
[31:25] here's what it looks like.
[31:27] Whatever you do, don't blink.
[31:30] >> The truth is out there.
[31:31] >> Real TV is on the air.
[31:40] Hi, I'm John Daly and if it's caught on
[31:42] tape, you'll see it here on Real TV. We
[31:44] begin with guards trying to turn back a
[31:46] prison revolt. The inmates are angry,
[31:48] drunk, and determined. Our Michael
[31:50] Brownley has the tape shot behind bars.
[31:55] Prison violence is common in the movies
[31:57] and on television, but what you're
[31:59] watching now is the real deal.
[32:02] A guard uses a home video camera to tape
[32:04] a disturbance at the Utah State
[32:06] Correctional Facility in Salt Lake City.
[32:12] >> Two inmates liquored up on homemade
[32:13] alcohol known as brew are trashing their
[32:16] prison dorms.
[32:24] >> Cuz I'm not.
[32:25] >> There's no specific reason for the
[32:26] violence. The men just seem to be
[32:28] venting frustration.
[32:32] Moments like this are common behind
[32:33] prison walls, but always tricky to
[32:36] handle.
[32:42] Lieutenant Scott Blackburn of the prison
[32:44] special operations unit explains. Uh
[32:47] very dangerous. They've non-compliant
[32:49] with the orders to go back in. They've
[32:50] threatened officers. Uh they're they
[32:53] seem to be absolutely unafraid of what
[32:55] uh what's going to happen to them. They
[32:58] have plenty of weapons
[32:59] >> and they're drinking.
[33:02] >> A dangerous combination, but a textbook
[33:05] scenario for special ops.
[33:06] >> Well, he loves you,
[33:08] >> John.
[33:10] >> While the inmates continue their
[33:11] rampage, Lieutenant Blackburn and his
[33:13] team prepare outside.
[33:15] >> As soon as we formulate a plan and uh
[33:17] decide the safest possible way to go in,
[33:20] we'll go in.
[33:22] >> No, I'm giving you a direct order.
[33:25] return to yourself. Do not want you
[33:28] harmed.
[33:30] >> On the intercom, there's warnings given
[33:32] to the inmates in there to uh cuff up.
[33:35] There's also warnings to the inmates in
[33:36] the cells to go to the back of their
[33:38] cell so they're not looking out the
[33:40] window.
[33:52] >> The entry is successful. One inmate is
[33:55] immediately restrained.
[33:59] >> You are all finished. Do you understand
[34:01] me?
[34:02] >> The second is ordered to stand down. He
[34:04] has no choice but to comply.
[34:08] >> Lieutenant Blackburn tells us precise
[34:10] planning is a key to a successful
[34:12] operation. The element of surprise is
[34:15] also valuable.
[34:17] >> What this is is the uh diversion device
[34:19] similar to the one used on the video.
[34:21] It's a sting ball grenade. Uh the 115 45
[34:26] caliber pellets are encased inside this
[34:28] rubber. The charge is in the center. Uh
[34:30] the pin is right here. You pull the pin.
[34:33] Uh there's a 1 second approximately 1
[34:36] second delay when it goes off. When it
[34:38] explodes, the the soft rubber pellets
[34:40] are 360° are thrown in at several
[34:43] hundred feet per second.
[34:47] >> The grenade works perfectly as diversion
[34:50] and the team gets the job done.
[34:54] Prison officials credit the quick action
[34:56] of the special ops unit with bringing
[34:57] the disturbance to a successful
[34:59] conclusion. One of the inmates involved
[35:01] in the incident remains a prisoner here
[35:03] at this facility. The other was
[35:05] transferred to a federal prison out of
[35:07] state. John
[35:09] >> Michael, thank you very much. Next,
[35:11] drama over the streets of Bangkok. A cop
[35:13] is pressed into service as a suicide
[35:16] counselor, but the police officer is in
[35:18] for a surprise.
[35:22] Police and TV news vehicles fill a
[35:24] street in Bangkok, Thailand. For hours,
[35:26] this man has been teetering on the
[35:27] ledge. But no one realizes how desperate
[35:30] he really is
[35:34] until this happens.
[35:41] >> I was staring at him when he jumped and
[35:44] then he just disappeared. I heard the
[35:46] sounds of clapping hands from the crowd.
[35:48] And we finally found out he was on the
[35:49] other side of the building.
[35:51] >> It's an amazing leap. Look at how narrow
[35:53] the ledge is. He could have easily
[35:54] missed it and fallen to his death. But
[35:57] now the jump changes things. The
[35:59] negotiator was making progress. Now he
[36:01] must start over. He doesn't know the
[36:03] man's problem, but he believes drugs are
[36:06] involved.
[36:08] >> Amphetamines. Drugs that make him see
[36:10] things that are not real. A stimulant.
[36:14] There's so much stress the negotiator
[36:16] considers something radical.
[36:20] >> I was even thinking to put medicine in
[36:22] the drinking water to put him to sleep.
[36:28] >> Instead, they try cigarettes.
[36:32] >> The negotiator finally maneuvers into a
[36:34] position where he can almost touch the
[36:36] man.
[36:38] >> I was standing right there near the
[36:39] window and I pushed his body to stop him
[36:41] from jumping.
[36:42] The crane came up from the fire brigade.
[36:44] Then we tried to grab
[36:47] >> and just like that, it's over.
[36:56] >> On the street, business returns to
[36:58] normal, but they'll be talking about the
[37:00] jump for a long time. It looked like a
[37:02] movie stunt, but it could have resulted
[37:04] in a very real tragedy.
[37:08] Now, the man told police he was having
[37:10] problems with his girlfriend, but he
[37:12] decided to come down after realizing
[37:14] he'd hurt his parents if he died. Well,
[37:16] the man on this next tape didn't think
[37:18] about what he was doing and how it could
[37:20] land him in jail. It's a mysterious tale
[37:23] that only our special correspondent from
[37:25] the X-Files could tell properly. Here
[37:27] with the tape, the smoking man with the
[37:29] drug dealer caught red-handed. John, as
[37:33] we've learned on the XFiles, nothing is
[37:35] private and stupidity is always exposed.
[37:39] I make sure of that. Crazy.
[37:43] >> This genius is a drug dealer making a
[37:45] home video in his methamphetamine lab in
[37:47] Riverside County, California. And he's
[37:49] going to regret it.
[37:51] >> You look behind me, dog, cuz I can't
[37:52] see. Oh, no. Oh, yeah.
[37:55] >> Yeah. Yeah.
[37:57] >> He's planning on sending the video to an
[37:59] ex buddy of his named Butch. Um, this is
[38:02] for you, Butch Bars.
[38:03] >> As you can tell from the obscene
[38:04] gesture, this dealer and Butch have had
[38:06] a little falling out.
[38:08] >> Can you see that over there?
[38:09] >> Yeah, it's recording.
[38:09] >> Is that your like your average everyday
[38:13] ordinary looking in a jar? Well, I
[38:16] wonder if I could get a half a gram out
[38:18] of this.
[38:20] >> Butch is the one who taught this guy how
[38:21] to make methamphetamine.
[38:23] Now, the dealer's bragging about how
[38:25] much better he is at making it than his
[38:26] teacher.
[38:32] Look at Oh. Oh,
[38:34] >> touch it. Look how in the way. Touch it.
[38:35] >> Careful. Oh, don't even touch it.
[38:37] >> Don't breathe it. Oh my god.
[38:38] >> Oh my god. Look at that. I'm not even
[38:39] touching the surface.
[38:40] >> Can we zoom in?
[38:41] >> Oh, zoom. Yeah, just give it a zoom job.
[38:43] >> We're not going to give you the whole
[38:44] recipe, of course. But Deputy District
[38:46] Attorney Tom McComere explains the
[38:48] process.
[38:49] >> What he's holding is a homemade hydrogen
[38:52] chloride gas generator with a vent tube.
[38:55] He's going to take that tube and he's
[38:57] going to touch it to the liquid. And
[39:00] when he touches the liquid, you can see
[39:02] clouds are forming. That is literally
[39:05] the hydrogen chloride gas is causing the
[39:08] liquid methamphetamine to turn to a
[39:10] solid.
[39:12] Look at that.
[39:15] I wonder if I could turn this whole jar
[39:17] into a single solid mass of
[39:20] what you say, Butch, can it be done?
[39:22] Unfortunately for the dealer, not too
[39:25] long after he shot this video, police
[39:27] raided his lab and found the
[39:28] incriminating tape. They promptly sped
[39:31] him off to jail.
[39:32] >> The only explanation for someone filming
[39:34] themsel doing this is that they are
[39:36] stupid. But by definition, a crime is a
[39:39] stupid act. So, you really expect
[39:41] criminals to do things like this.
[39:43] >> Look at that, Butch. Can you believe
[39:44] that? I'm turning this charge to one
[39:46] solid mass. The dealer spending the next
[39:48] 35 years in jail, possibly the rest of
[39:51] his life.
[39:52] He's eligible for parole in the year
[39:54] 2027. John
[39:57] >> Smoking Man, thank you very much. Thanks
[39:58] for joining us this week. Well, here's
[40:00] what's coming up next.
[40:03] >> The big brawl. Young and old alike hit
[40:06] the streets looking to spill blood.
[40:09] Later, the extreme skier going down at
[40:12] top speed. One rough spot and you know
[40:15] what happens.
[40:18] >> Plus, this guy is over the top. If it's
[40:21] caught on tape, you'll see it on real
[40:24] TV.
[40:27] >> Okay, babe. Here we go. Um, now move
[40:31] over to the right. Um, no, the other
[40:34] way. My right. A little more.
[40:39] A little more.
[40:42] Perfect.
[40:45] >> How was it?
[40:46] >> Beautiful.
[40:47] If you think the Cavalere looks good,
[40:49] way you know it can go up to 100,000
[40:50] miles before its first scheduled tuneup.
[40:52] Chevy Cavalier. The more you know, the
[40:55] better it looks. Genuine Chevrolet.
[40:59] >> Sometimes we need to measure happiness
[41:01] by the slice. And occasionally we need
[41:04] our mornings to be a little nutty.
[41:08] Other days we need to feel warm and
[41:11] gooey inside. Once in a while, we need
[41:14] hugs by the pound. And when life gets
[41:18] too complicated, we need to add more
[41:21] layers.
[41:23] Sarah Lee, add some delicious to your
[41:26] life.
[41:28] >> When she rents a place from Don, their
[41:31] relationship
[41:33] crumbles.
[41:34] >> You don't expect me to pay for this, do
[41:36] you? I'm the landlord, not the dope that
[41:37] took the dive through the ceiling.
[41:39] >> It's an all new Nash Bridges CBS

[41:56] areas with PGA instruction. Look for the
[41:58] driving range to test all the newest

[42:02] and adults, and the Celebrity Putting

[42:08] the Portland Expo Center. Don't miss the

[42:13] >> Hi, I'm Mike Satan, the president of

[42:41] >> Tonight on Coin 6 News at 11,
[42:43] >> I'm Jeff Gianola. A woman who killed a
[42:45] child in a hit-and-run accident is
[42:47] cleared. Find out why. Plus, the most
[42:49] dangerous intersections in Portland for
[42:51] both pedestrians and drivers. Watch
[42:53] tonight on Coin 6 News at 11.
[42:57] >> Disney 5 has arrived.
[42:59] >> I am from the planet Mars
[43:01] >> and the lab
[43:03] >> are out of this world. Hey, space man.
[43:06] Sorry about that.
[43:07] >> Disney's My Favorite Martian, rated PG.
[43:10] Now playing.
[43:12] >> Check your hat and lose your boat. You
[43:15] found the place to be.
[43:18] Channel 7 is done. You're watching real
[43:21] TV.
[43:24] Welcome back. You've probably never
[43:26] heard about a street fight where
[43:27] everyone is encouraged to participate
[43:29] and to inflict pain. Parents send their
[43:32] kids and wives send their husbands to
[43:34] fight in the big brawl.
[43:37] It's a 700-year-old tradition, but this
[43:40] year, a camera gets a rare look at this
[43:42] unique and violent holiday in northern
[43:44] Bolivia.
[43:48] Because the IU people not only love
[43:50] music and song, they also celebrate by
[43:52] beating each other bloody.
[44:00] It's called tinku fighting. A shocking
[44:02] ritual held every year before harvest
[44:04] time.
[44:17] It looks like a street riot, but the
[44:19] tinku fights are actually a religious
[44:21] ceremony. If you want food from the
[44:23] land, you must give something precious
[44:25] to the earth in exchange. like your
[44:27] blood.
[44:35] >> And judging by this tape, a lot of
[44:37] people in town think that's a pretty
[44:38] fair deal.
[44:49] Once you've received the blow and you
[44:51] bleed, you've done it. You've done the
[44:54] tinkle. And the tinku is this act act of
[44:58] giving your blood to the earth.
[45:01] >> Sociologist Ricardo Kaya has studied the
[45:04] IU people. He says the tinku fights
[45:06] serve another purpose. It's a great way
[45:09] to release tension.
[45:11] >> So it is a fight but on the other hand
[45:13] it is a fiesta where the island gets
[45:16] united.
[45:26] A one-day free-for-all where nobody
[45:28] spends the night in jail.
[45:36] It may be a rare sight, but we say the
[45:38] tinku fights have a lot in common with
[45:40] feast days everywhere
[45:42] because tomorrow a lot of these people
[45:44] will show up for work with a major
[45:47] headache.
[45:49] Looks like the Jerry Springer show to
[45:51] me. Now, in some villages, even older
[45:53] women and young children take part in
[45:55] the fight. Sometimes it gets out of hand
[45:57] and police need to break them up. Now,
[45:59] if you've got gray tape in your travels,
[46:01] we'd love to see it. Call us toll-free
[46:03] at 1888 Real TV1. We'll be right back.
[46:07] Up next, we dispatch the Real TV action
[46:11] cam so you can see what it's like to be
[46:13] hunted by the K-9 squad.
[46:16] >> COME ON. And this extreme skier is in
[46:19] for a total wipeout.
[46:23] Plus, one good jump deserves another.
[46:27] More great tape just moments away on the
[46:30] one and only Real TV.
[46:37] Meet Paul Bey, a mob boss with a
[46:40] problem.
[46:40] >> Yeah, I got stressed.
[46:42] >> You are my shrink. You don't hear the
[46:44] word no very often, do you?
[46:45] >> I hear it all the time. I'm only small.
[46:47] No, please. No. No.
[46:49] >> Robert Dairo.
[46:50] >> In my world, I deal with animals.
[46:51] >> Want to be a ribby? Get away from the
[46:53] car.
[46:53] >> Billy Crystal.
[46:54] >> You know what I do when I'm mad, Paul? I
[46:55] hit a pillow.
[46:57] >> Feel better?
[46:58] >> Yeah, I do.
[46:59] >> Analyze this.
[47:00] >> You want me to clear your schedule for
[47:01] you?
[47:01] >> Oh, no. Rated R.
[47:02] >> Jimmy, no.
[47:03] >> Sneak preview Saturday, February 20th.
[47:05] Starts March 5th.
[47:06] >> You get a lot for the price. They stand
[47:08] behind their warranties and their
[47:10] promises.
[47:10] >> Hyundai is America's best value. And the
[47:13] Hyundai Elantre is proof. You get a lot,
[47:16] including air conditioning and stereo
[47:17] cassette, all standard. And every
[47:19] Hyundai also comes with a Hyundai
[47:21] Advantage, America's best warranty. At
[47:24] just 10,934,
[47:26] it all adds up to America's best value.
[47:32] >> See your Hyundai dealer and get the
[47:34] Elantre for just 10,934.
[47:36] >> I used to love cigarette ads. The cowboy
[47:39] on his horse, rugged, independent, it
[47:43] was beautiful. Then the cowboy died. Got
[47:46] lung cancer from smoking. His name was
[47:49] Wayne McLaren and he was my brother. I'm
[47:52] Mac. MLEN. The tobacco industry used my
[47:55] brother in ads to create an image that
[47:57] smoking makes you independent. Don't
[48:00] believe it? Lying there with all those
[48:02] tubes in you. How independent can you
[48:05] really be?
[48:06] >> This family isn't panicking over last
[48:08] minute homework. They called the parent
[48:10] teacher hotline. The Parent Teacher
[48:12] Hotline is a great resource. Call 972
[48:15] PTHL.
[48:16] >> Brought to you by Burgerville, serving
[48:18] the Northwest since 1961 and Coin 6
[48:20] News.
[48:22] >> Ron Tonkan. Yeah, I know him. Always
[48:24] searching for the car on the bridge.
[48:26] >> He asked me if I could rent it through
[48:27] the DMV computer to try to find it. He's
[48:30] like John Wayne in the searchers.
[48:32] Obsessed. Always trying to find little
[48:34] Debbie. Never wants anyone to go through
[48:36] the pain of losing a car.
[48:38] >> I guess that's why he's got so many
[48:39] dealerships. such great prices. Anyway,
[48:42] about the computer, I told him no, but I
[48:44] did put him in touch with our sketch
[48:45] artist.
[48:47] >> No, no, no. The headlights were bigger
[48:49] and rounder.
[49:05] Well, I hope this is as close as you
[49:06] ever get to a police canine squad.
[49:09] They're on duty to take a bite out of
[49:10] crime. And if they take a little bit of
[49:12] flesh, so be it. Our CB LVargas has a
[49:15] tape shot by a real TV action cam of
[49:17] what it's like to be hunted in cold
[49:20] blood.
[49:21] >> Razor wire, chain gangs, guard dogs.
[49:27] >> OH GOD, MY ARM.
[49:28] >> JUST A few reasons not to commit a crime
[49:31] in Maricopa County, Arizona. They take
[49:34] the law seriously in these parts. Just
[49:37] ask Sheriff Joe Araio. He has K-9
[49:39] officers patrolling his tent city jail
[49:42] and that makes the inmates a little
[49:44] uncomfortable.
[49:45] >> So, they don't like it, but they're
[49:46] still there. You know why? Because I'm
[49:48] the sheriff and I serve the people of
[49:50] this county.
[49:51] >> If you're wondering where the real TV
[49:52] angle is, check this out. Not only does
[49:55] Sheriff Joe have dogs on duty, he's got
[49:57] them wired with video cameras.
[50:00] >> Everybody has video cameras, so I had an
[50:02] idea. Why not place video cameras on the
[50:04] dogs so they can see as they're
[50:07] patrolling the tents? Went one step
[50:09] further and put antennas on them with
[50:12] audio equipment so they can hear him bad
[50:14] mouthing the sheriff as they patrol the
[50:16] tents.
[50:17] >> Here's a real TV pop quiz. Can you guess
[50:20] what this is? If you said the K9 camera
[50:22] dog's tongue, you'd be right. The
[50:25] cameras are only a small part of the
[50:27] program. The main purpose of the dogs is
[50:29] to keep the inmates in line. Officer
[50:31] Marie Trombi explains.
[50:33] >> Basically, what the dogs do here is um
[50:36] patrol the perimeter, the inside. They
[50:38] have a full run of the entire facility.
[50:40] We kind of roam everywhere. The inmates
[50:42] react by giving me a wide birth when I
[50:44] walk through the alley or on the yard.
[50:47] They go around me. They want to avoid
[50:49] the dogs.
[50:50] >> Inmates have a good reason to avoid the
[50:52] dogs. They don't want to end up as the
[50:54] bite taken out of crime. COME ON.
[50:58] I give up.
[50:59] >> We thought it would be a great idea to
[51:00] experience a takedown firsthand. So, we
[51:03] asked Sergeant Robert Parish to wear a
[51:05] real TV action cam and he said, "Why
[51:07] not?" A specially designed bite suit
[51:10] will take the sting off the attack, but
[51:13] the action is real and raw.
[51:15] >> I give up. I GIVE UP. HE'S GOT MY ARM.
[51:18] STOP.
[51:22] AH,
[51:27] I GIVE UP. GET HIM OFF.
[51:32] OH, GET HIM OFF MY ARM. I GIVE UP.
[51:37] OKAY, I GIVE UP.
[51:40] IT'S pretty exhilarating because you're
[51:41] hoping the dog hits you in the arm where
[51:42] you have the protective gear, but
[51:43] there's always a chance they hit you in
[51:44] the leg or somewhere you're not prepared
[51:46] to catch them. But you feel a lot of
[51:47] pressure. Uh, if they get you the wrong
[51:48] spot, you feel A LOT OF PAIN.
[51:55] SO, HERE ARE A FEW things to remember
[51:57] about Maricopa County. Don't commit any
[51:59] crimes. Don't wind up in Tent City. And
[52:03] don't upset the K-9 guards.
[52:08] >> Ouch. That's got to hurt. Well, now take
[52:10] a look at what's coming up on the next
[52:11] Real TV.
[52:13] >> Don't even think of missing Real TV
[52:15] Monday. We've got tape of what happens
[52:16] when two cars try to occupy the same
[52:19] place at the same time. Plus, the man
[52:21] with the strongest eyelids and the movie
[52:23] star who took the plunge. Don't miss
[52:25] Real TV tomorrow.
[52:28] They watched in shock and horror, and
[52:30] there was nothing they could do. The
[52:32] skier kept falling and falling. Here's
[52:35] the tape of that fateful day.
[52:38] Welcome to the beautiful Mount Aliesa in
[52:41] Anchorage, Alaska.
[52:44] Veteran skier Clint Sheress is trying to
[52:47] qualify for an upcoming extreme skiing
[52:49] competition. A freelance cameraman gets
[52:51] it all on tape.
[52:56] Keep in mind, Clint's flying along
[52:58] slopes that sit on a 50° angle.
[53:03] That's right, 50°. One mistake and you
[53:06] can call it a wipeout.
[53:11] >> There's the mistake. It's a wipe out.
[53:25] You all right, Clint?
[53:27] Wave if you're all right.
[53:29] >> Clint's okay, but the fall knocks him
[53:31] out of the running for the extreme
[53:32] skiing competition.
[53:35] And when you think about it, taking
[53:37] another look at that ball makes you
[53:38] wonder, isn't this extreme enough?
[53:44] Now, Clint injured his knee, but he's
[53:46] still skiing. Well, sometimes working in
[53:49] the movies is not glamorous. Sometimes
[53:51] you can get hurt. Take a look.
[53:55] Here's something you don't see every
[53:57] day, and for good reason.
[53:59] No, this isn't a guy being evicted from
[54:02] his house. It's Florida stuntman Dave
[54:03] Kramer filming a scene for a low-budget
[54:06] film.
[54:08] In this scene, an explosion is timed to
[54:10] go off just as the stunt man clears the
[54:12] roof.
[54:14] It does, but Dave misses his mark. He'll
[54:17] have to try again and again.
[54:23] This time, Dave sails completely over
[54:25] the roof, and the crew celebrates.
[54:28] You've seen the stunt. Now, we're going
[54:29] to show you the trick behind the stunt.
[54:32] It's a giant swing. Two crew members
[54:35] rock as hard as they can until the right
[54:37] moment, then catapult the stunt man over
[54:39] the roof.
[54:42] >> It's not the most sophisticated stunt,
[54:45] but it works.
[54:49] >> Well, now take a look at this. It's
[54:51] today's real TV quiz.
[54:54] This man is about to jump from a
[54:56] perfectly good airplane, but that's just
[54:58] what you'd expect from an actor who's
[54:59] lived a life of danger and high
[55:01] adventure in the movies.
[55:04] Can you name this freef falling star?
[55:06] Don't touch that remote. We'll be right
[55:08] back with the answer.

[55:19] >> Head and shoulders makes me worry less.
[55:21] I used to kind of be self-conscious
[55:23] about playing with my hair because if I
[55:24] was wearing black, then I would end up
[55:26] with flakes on my shoulders. Black's my
[55:27] favorite color to wear, so it could be a
[55:29] beauty secret. Head and Shoulders
[55:30] changes dander problems into beautiful
[55:33] hair. The new Bior self-heating mask
[55:37] deep cleans your face with a gentle
[55:38] heat. Only Bori heats up instantly to
[55:41] liquefy oily residue and rinse it away
[55:43] clean in just 60 seconds. Amazing what a
[55:46] little heat can do. Bior, clean, honest.
[55:49] Tonight on Coin 6 News at 11,
[55:51] >> I'm Jeff Tionola. Crews were supposed to
[55:53] start pumping oil from the ground at
[55:54] Carissa tonight. Did it happen? We'll

[56:05] this Sunday, 10 years after the Exxon
[56:07] Vald disaster, we'll take a look at how
[56:09] that area has recovered.
[56:10] >> The wreck of the new Carissa is a
