[0:06] And what is Congress going to do about
[0:08] the administration's enormous economic
[0:11] recovery plan? The Senate's former
[0:13] Democratic leader, Tom Dashel, is one of
[0:15] the most popular people in Washington,
[0:18] and his confirmation is Health and Human
[0:20] Services Secretary seemed a sure thing.
[0:23] But now it turns out he neglected to pay
[0:26] some $140,000
[0:28] in taxes. Is his confirmation in
[0:31] trouble? And how will the Senate deal
[0:33] with the stimulus package? We'll ask the
[0:36] most powerful Republican in Washington
[0:38] these days, the minority leader Mitch
[0:41] McConnell of Kentucky and the number
[0:43] three Democrat in the Senate, Chuck
[0:45] Schumer of New York. David Brooks, a
[0:47] columnist for the New York Times will be

[1:22] Senator McConnell is in the studio with
[1:24] us this morning. Good morning to you,
[1:25] Senator. Thank you for coming. Well,
[1:26] let's talk first about this thing with
[1:29] Tom Dashel, which kind of stunned people
[1:31] around here because he is one of the
[1:32] most popular people uh in Washington. It
[1:35] turns out though that he owed the IRS
[1:38] $140,000.
[1:39] Apparently became aware of this last
[1:41] June. Didn't pay up until January 2nd
[1:45] when he was
