[0:00] The last major storm that actually hit
[0:02] New Orleans uh head-on was Betsy in
[0:05] 1965, but they've had many many
[0:07] skirmishes, many uh threats over the
[0:09] years since then. Uh these people expect
[0:12] that, they're used to it. Um and I think
[0:15] that even without the devastation in
[0:17] Florida, they would have known to go to
[0:18] higher ground. And I think obviously
[0:19] seeing those pictures and knowing that
[0:21] the storm has not weakened at all since
[0:24] it did that damage, uh it's it's an
[0:26] impetus for them to move on.
[0:27] Yeah, Jim, right now, I don't know if
[0:28] you can see this, but we are looking at
[0:30] video of people in New Orleans
[0:32] preparing. And it really looks like the
[0:34] scene in Miami just a couple of days ago
[0:37] right before the storm hit here.
[0:40] What can you tell us about about what
[0:42] people are talking about? Are people
[0:43] trying to uh to bear the brunt of it
[0:46] there, or are most people evacuating?
[0:49] How wide are the evacuation zones?
[0:52] Well, most people most people of
[0:54] obviously in the low-lying areas have
[0:56] evacuated. There are two really two
[0:58] groups of people. There are those who
[1:00] who can afford, who have the the
[1:02] wherewithal, the money to buy the
[1:03] gasoline, or to get their boats out of
[1:05] the water, who are moving north, or
[1:07] moving inland, rather. And the second
[1:08] group are those who of course who who
[1:10] don't have the means and have to go to
[1:11] the evacuation centers. In both cases, I
[1:14] think uh those people are are leaving.
[1:16] It's uh We've seen this so many times
[1:18] before in the face of a of a major
[1:20] hurricane, how people board up their
[1:22] windows and get
