[0:00] America. I'm Charles Gibson

[0:01] >> and I'm Dana King sitting in for Joan

[0:03] while she's on vacation. It's Thursday,

[0:05] September the 2nd. We certainly all

[0:07] remember the custody fight over baby

[0:09] Jessica. It was complicated, quite

[0:11] emotional. Well, this morning we have

[0:12] another adoption and custody story with

[0:15] a very different ending. Yes. The case

[0:17] uh involves a 9-month-old baby named

[0:20] Pete, and his case was settled amicably

[0:22] last month after all the adults agreed

[0:25] that the critical factor in any adoption

[0:27] case ought to be the best interest of

[0:30] the child. In a few moments, you're

[0:32] going to meet all the parties involved

[0:33] in this Solomon like solution. Right

[0:36] now, Spencer is back on dry land,

[0:38] joining us again this morning. Spencer,

[0:39] >> thrilled to be here.

[0:41] Well, Charlie, Hurricane Emily continues

[0:43] to move away from the US mainland. And

[0:45] as it heads eastward over the colder

[0:46] waters of the Atlantic, would you

[0:48] believe that while we were focused on

[0:50] Emily, there were other weather events

[0:52] occurring around the nation? Some of

[0:53] that weather has been noteworthy, and

[0:54] we'll tell you all about it in this half

[0:56] hour, Dana.

[0:56] >> All right. Well, also coming up, what

[0:58] does the nation's top cop have to say

[1:00] about stopping street crime and drugs?

[1:02] We're going to talk with the new FBI

[1:03] director, Lewis Free, in just a few

[1:05] moments. But right now, we're going to

[1:06] go to Lisa McCree of ABC News. She's

[1:07] sitting in for the vacationing Morton

[1:09] Dean. She has all the news of the day.

[1:10] Good morning, Lisa.

[1:12] >> Morning, Dana. Morning, everyone. Well
