[0:49] Good evening. What was Hurricane Isabel
[0:52] left a big trail of trouble here in the
[0:54] Eastern United States today before
[0:56] spinning on up into Canada. It will take
[0:58] days to fully assess, clean up, and
[1:01] repair the damage. Starting in North
[1:03] Carolina, Isabel's path inland and up
[1:05] through the Mid-Atlantic states resulted

[1:17] extensive. More than 5 million homes and
[1:20] businesses lost power. Many don't have
[1:23] it back. Shore damage is extensive. Many
[1:26] homes destroyed. Flooding is severe in
[1:29] some areas. All of this affects jobs in
[1:32] the national economy. In the nation's
[1:34] capital, government offices were closed
[1:36] for a second day. North Carolina,
[1:39] Virginia, and Maryland have now been
[1:41] declared eligible for federal disaster
[1:43] help. CBS's Bob Orr begins our coverage
[1:46] of the aftermath.
[1:51] The sun rose over a calm Atlantic today
[1:54] revealing a 600-mile long trail of
[1:56] misery left by Isabel.
