[0:01] The mob and gasoline, a billion dollar
[0:03] ripoff. Begs and McFarland out the door
[0:07] and the high rolling testimony of
[0:08] Louisiana's governor.
[0:12] >> NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokoff.
[0:15] >> Good evening. Tonight we begin with a
[0:17] shocking investigative report by Brian
[0:20] Ross on the latest enterprise of
[0:21] organized crime, the mob. The mob goes
[0:25] where the money is. And over the years,
[0:26] it has moved into legitimate businesses

[1:10] Francei, who was only in his 30s, is the
[1:13] youngest mafia boss in the country and
[1:16] possibly the richest. Authorities say in
[1:19] the last 5 years, Francesy and some of
[1:22] the men around him have made perhaps as
[1:24] much as a billion dollars. Not from
[1:26] heroin or cocaine or prostitution or
[1:28] gambling, but from a new mob business,
[1:33] gasoline.
[1:34] For more than a year now, FBI agents and
[1:37] police in states along the Atlantic
[1:39] coast have been following the movemen
